Lauren and Joseph’s love story blossomed one fateful night in Inman Park when their paths crossed unexpectedly at a bar. Spotting Lauren from across the room, Joseph felt an immediate connection, fueled by memories of their previous encounter years ago through mutual friends. Determined and bold, he told his friend: “I’m going to go ask her out. I’m not leaving the bar tonight until she either turns me down or gives me her number.” With a seven-year age gap between them, both Lauren and Joseph had been navigating the Atlanta single scene for an extended time. But that night marked the end of their journeys as they embarked on a new chapter together. After a series of enchanting dates, their relationship solidified, leading to an engagement eleven months later.
Nestled within a short stroll from Lauren’s workplace was the exquisite and storied Wimbish House, an enchanting historic venue in Midtown Atlanta. For years, Lauren nurtured a dream that this remarkable location would someday provide the backdrop for a truly magnificent and unforgettable wedding celebration. As for Joseph, he moved to Atlanta from South Georgia when he was 18 to attend Georgia Tech, and even after graduating, he never left the area because he fell in love with it. The breathtaking beauty and charm of the Wimbish House perfectly embodied their vision of a unique and cherished wedding venue, making her dreams of a remarkable and special day come true.
The air of joy and anticipation filled the room as the sun rose on Lauren and Joseph’s wedding day. Clad in a princess-style ballgown, Lauren radiated elegance and grace. Her hair, expertly styled in a vintage-inspired 1950s up-do, added a timeless charm to her bridal look. With the talented hands of makeup artist Erin Ryser, Lauren’s beauty was enhanced, her glowing complexion flawlessly complementing her dress and her unique personality and style.
Joseph and Lauren prepared special historical family heirlooms to carry during the ceremony. Joseph brought the small pocket-sized Bible that his grandfather had carried with him in WWII, and it was from this Bible that he drew hope and encouragement while he was a prisoner of war in Italy. Joseph’s carrying this with him on his wedding day symbolized the hope and trust he and Lauren would also put in the Bible as they began their lives together.
Lauren carried rings from each of her grandmothers. Her maternal grandmother’s ring contained a pearl studded by diamonds, and her paternal grandmother’s ring had a beautiful large sapphire. Lauren was so honored to hold items so precious to her grandmothers on that day, which neither were alive to see.
The moment Lauren and Joseph locked eyes during their first look was truly heartwarming. Overwhelmed with emotions, Joseph couldn’t help but be captivated by Lauren’s stunning bridal appearance, feeling his love for her blossom all over again. It was a tender and unforgettable exchange that reaffirmed their deep connection and affection.
Eve Yarbrough skillfully captured the profound love that radiated between the couple. Through her lens, she immortalized the tender moments of love and affection they shared, creating timeless memories for the couple to cherish forever.
The couple’s friends were by their side, providing unwavering support as they prepared for the momentous ceremony.
The wedding ceremony was filled with an undeniable sense of magic and emotional depth. As Lauren gracefully walked down the aisle, Joseph couldn’t help but be moved to tears of pure joy. The couple’s decision to fast-track their wedding plans was fueled by the heartbreaking news of Lauren’s father’s terminal cancer diagnosis. However, through what can only be described as a miracle, her father not only attended the wedding but also shared a heartfelt dance with her during the father-daughter moment to the version of the 1950s song “Unforgettable” sung by Nat King Cole accompanied by his daughter. And she walked down the aisle to the strings + piano version of “Falling in Love with You” by Elvis – a song also from the 1950s. Though her father passed away two months later, the precious photos captured on their wedding day serve as cherished mementos that hold an even deeper significance, forever preserving the special and truly magical moments they shared as a family.

Lauren was at a loss for how to design her cake. The bride knew she wanted it to look gorgeous but just didn’t have the words to describe it. She handed the entire cake-designing project over to Victoria, a founder of LUXE Atlanta Events. Lauren says: “The cake Victoria ordered was so beautiful and stunning, and the style matched the lace of the bodice of my wedding dress perfectly! Love it so much!”

Advice from the couple:
• We LOVED all of our wedding vendors! The one that we are absolutely the most thankful for was our wedding planner from LUXE Atlanta Events, Victoria. She advised us on every detail, which I have no doubts helped the wedding turn out as PERFECT as it was! She is extremely gifted at being able to understand what I was wanting and able to make my dreams into reality. She also could very compassionately navigate my having a sick family member in the ceremony. I know I won’t be able to say enough nice things here to do it justice.
She also made every problem disappear. She knocked everything out of the park! She was the MVP of the whole wedding!
