Gabriella’s and Raphael’s love story exemplifies true connection and partnership. They first crossed paths at VCU in Richmond, Virginia — a city that now holds many of their most cherished memories. Currently residing in Northern Virginia, Gabriella dazzles as a Washington Commanders’ Dancer, while Raphael excels at an investment firm. Their journey, marked by dedication, love, loyalty, and mutual respect, culminated in a wedding day that beautifully reflected their romantic story.

Bridal Morning

The day began with the women getting ready at the iconic Jefferson Hotel, infusing the morning routine with luxury and elegance. The preparations were followed by a deeply moving prayer session, where the girls prayed over Gabriella, adding a spiritual and emotional depth to the day. Pastel pink, soft beige and white colors coordinated the bouquet, the gown, and three sets of bridal shoes for every occasion, including elegant Sam Edelman heels.

Gabriella embodied timeless charm in an off-the-shoulder lace dress by Ava Laurenne that perfectly highlighted her grace and beauty. Her hair, styled in loose waves, added to the vintage glamour, seamlessly complementing her sophisticated attire. She carried a bouquet of pale pink peonies, finishing her romantic bridal look with a delicate touch.

Groom's Fashion

Meanwhile, the groomsmen gathered at the historic John Marshall Hotel to prepare for the big day. After helping each other to dress, they spent the rest of the morning playing pool and chess before the festivities started.

He looked classy in a black tuxedo with a white shirt and a black bow tie, topped off with a simple pink boutonniere and a classic wristwatch.

Ceremony

Gabriella and Raphael’s ceremony at St. Johns United Church of Christ in Richmond was a deeply moving experience, filled with both joy and emotion. Adorable flower girls, dressed in delicate white dresses, walked ahead of the bride, scattering petals along the aisle, adding a sweet touch to the already beautiful moment.

As Gabriella’s father walked her down the aisle, the guests watched in admiration. The couple exchanged heartfelt vows in front of an altar adorned with lush floral arrangements, creating a romantic atmosphere in the sacred setting. The bridal party stood by with visible emotion, with one bridesmaid gently wiping away tears of happiness.

"Seeing Gabrielle and Raphael together was breathtaking — a perfect match in every sense."

Moment Alone

Right after the ceremony, Gabriella and Raphael took a quiet moment to embrace their new status as husband and wife. Their happiness was evident as they kissed and laughed, enjoying this special time together. They chose the vintage trolley for their photoshoot, a setting that perfectly matched the classic and timeless feel of their wedding. The rain, which lingered throughout the day, only added a unique charm, making their celebration all the more memorable.

Having already photographed Gabriella’s sister’s wedding, Emily Bartell Photography was the natural choice to capture their big day and these precious moments. Emily’s deep connection with the family, combined with her sharp eye for detail, ensured that every moment was beautifully documented. Her ability to blend timeless romance with a touch of glam made her the perfect fit for capturing Gabriella and Raphael’s love story.

Decor & Setting

The reception at the John Marshall Ballroom exuded timeless elegance: tall arrangements of white hydrangeas and soft pink roses graced each table with classic white linens. Gold accents, like the candleholders and rimmed chargers, added a touch of sophistication. Floating candles and greenery cascaded down the long tables, enhancing the romantic atmosphere. The stationery featured a clean, classic design that tied everything together seamlessly, reflecting the couple’s vision for a stylish and memorable evening.

A special and personal touch to the reception was the couple’s signature cocktails. Every drink showcased their personalities and tastes. Together they shared the “Ortiz Margarita”, Raphael’s drink was the “El Jefe”,  and Gabriella’s was the “Command Force”, as an homage to her love to cheer dancing.  This drink menu made toasts from all the loved ones even more fun and heartfelt.

Reception

The dinner started with Gabriella and Raphael’s first dance to “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Kina Grannis. It was a touching moment that captivated everyone.

"These moments, filled with laughter and love, were a true reflection of their vibrant relationship."

Cake Cutting

As a lovely tradition, the couple cut together their perfect cake by Ukrops. It was a three-tiered creation, with each tier adding its texture and character. Real powder pink peonies on the cake made it look soft and elegant, matching the overall reception theme.

Afterparty

At the afterparty, the bride surprised everyone with an amazing cheer dance performance. The party had another surprise coming up, and the band invited the newlyweds to sing on the stage. Many loved ones joined the dancefloor, celebrating the big day of Gabrielle and Raphael.

"A standout moment of the evening was when Gabriella and Raphael were invited on stage to sing with the band. This spontaneous, joyful moment highlighted their fun-loving personalities and the genuine happiness that surrounded them. "
