An Artful and Heartfelt Wedding for the Most Adventurous Couple

Featured Members

What made Max and Annie’s wedding so special was the true spirit of collaboration that shaped every detail. From the very beginning, it was clear this wasn’t just about planning a celebration — it was about co-creating an experience that felt deeply personal and joyfully original. The bride’s artistic eye and thoughtful touches, combined with the design expertise of Amuse Event Co., brought the vision to life in a way that was both intentional and wildly fun. Every step of the journey felt like a shared creative adventure — and the result was magic.

Location: Fort Worth, Texas, USA
Style: Chic, elegant, garden party
Time of planning: 6 months
Number of guests: 300
Setting: Private estate
Season: Fall

After graduating from Michigan State and sailing the world as a yachtie, Max joined the 93-foot sailboat Taza Mas, spending seasons between New England and the Caribbean. During his time aboard, he often heard about a girl living in Australia — Annie — and caught glimpses of her in photos. Years later, after circling the globe on various yachts, Max returned to Newport, Rhode Island and stopped by Taza Mas, where fate stepped in: Annie was visiting with friends. A magical weekend together sparked a long-distance romance that soon turned into a shared life. They moved to San Francisco, worked in tech startups, and later hit the road in a converted school bus named Bambi, exploring the U.S. before settling in Austin, Texas. In December, after a month traveling through Asia, Max proposed during a layover in Paris, near the Eiffel Tower — and Annie said yes.

Couple's Fashion

Annie and Max’s wedding look was the perfect expression of their shared love for vintage — a passion they’ve nurtured together for years. Their overall vibe was vintage chic, with both looks carrying stories as thoughtful as they were stylish. Max wore a custom three-piece ’70s-inspired suit, paired with a silk bolo scarf, classic Lucchese boots, and a Stetson hat that brought just the right dose of swagger to his look.

Annie originally planned to wear her mom’s 1984 Neiman Marcus wedding dress, and they even returned to the same Dallas store 40 years later for alterations. But while waiting for the tailor, Annie spotted an intricate, artistic gown by Naeem Khan. She slipped it on and instantly knew — it was the one. Her final look was completed with emerald earrings borrowed from her aunt, and Gucci shoes gifted by Max just days before the wedding. Adina Wright and  Amy Rose crafted a romantic look for Annie with a loose, low bun and soft tendrils, paired with natural, radiant makeup — glowing skin, defined eyes, and a hint of blush that perfectly matched her intricate gown and the day’s nostalgic elegance.

Ceremony

The couple exchanged vows in a small, intimate ceremony at the tiny chapel on the property — a place filled with deep family meaning. The chapel has long been a part of Annie’s family history, with siblings and cousins tying the knot there before her.

Surrounded only by immediate family and their wedding party, the ceremony felt deeply personal and heartfelt — a moment reserved for the closest people in Max and Annie’s lives. Afterward, the rest of the guests joined for a joyful reception, where the intimate magic of the ceremony carried into the celebration.

Max and Annie made their exit hand-in-hand, beaming with joy as chapel bell rang, and the petals rained down around them. Framed by the charming white chapel and a blooming cross above the door, they walked through a path lined with smiling guests, laughter, and cheers. It was a moment of pure celebration.

Cocktail Hour

With the entire celebration held at a private family estate, the space felt like a world of its own — just for Max, Annie, and their guests. Friends and family roamed freely through open fields, quiet garden paths, and tucked-away corners of the property, adding to the relaxed, intimate atmosphere. The cocktail hour offered the perfect little pause in the joyful day, giving everyone a chance to soak in the setting, sip something refreshing, and savor the magic unfolding around them.

The fashionable guests fit seamlessly into the vintage aesthetic of the day, bringing Max and Annie’s vision to life with style and flair. Forgoing a traditional wedding party, the couple gave their closest friends a loose dress code that perfectly matched the celebration’s vibe. The gals embraced the garden-chic feel in shades of green, floral prints, and flowing silhouettes — each look unique but beautifully cohesive. The guys channeled groovy Texas charm with vintage-inspired suits, bolo ties, and zero traditional neckties in sight.

One of the most meaningful touches at the chapel was the presence of a live painter — who also happens to be a close friend of Max and Annie. As guests looked on, she captured the ceremony scene in real time, brushstroke by brushstroke. In a beautiful, spontaneous moment, Max and Annie stepped in to add a few strokes of their own to the canvas. It was especially fitting, as Annie is a watercolor artist herself — making the experience all the more personal and unforgettable.

Garden Party

Max and Annie’s reception was a vibrant reflection of their adventurous, joy-filled life together — traveling, sailing, surfing, painting, and exploring the world with their beloved pup, Solar. With the help of Amuse Event Co., that spirit was bottled up and brought to life in a beautifully non-traditional way. Instead of a formal seated dinner, they hosted a daytime garden party-meets-strolling reception on the main lawn of the estate.

The decor felt effortlessly chic and playfully funky, with cozy lounge sets, layered rugs, hanging lanterns swaying from the trees, and an abundance of florals, greenery, and potted plants that made the whole space feel lush, relaxed, and totally them. A beloved part of their story, Bambi the Bus — the converted school bus they traveled the country in — made an appearance as their bar. Named after Annie’s grandmother, Bambi was parked beside a boat featuring the Taza Mas decal, a touching tribute to the sailboat where Max and Annie first met.

Annie poured her heart into the wedding’s artistic details, hand-painting everything from the round bar decals to the scenic invitation artwork, a custom crest for her and Max, and all of the signage. Each flower she painted on the round bar was thoughtfully chosen to represent a late grandparent or family member, adding a deeply personal layer to the celebration. The decor by Flowers On The Square was lush and playful, with winding garlands of greenery and pops of cheerful blooms in pink, yellow, and coral woven throughout. Arranged atop soft green-and-white patterned linens, the flowers brought a natural, whimsical charm to the garden party setting.

Max and Annie hosted two standout bars, serving signature spicy margaritas and espresso martinis. Just in front, a Taza Mas boat offered beers from their roots, including Shiner Bock from Texas and Oberon from Michigan. Inspired by their love of travel, together with Feastivities, Tokyo Cafe and Michaels Cuisine, the couple curated a vibrant “around the world” menu with passed appetizers like Aussie meat pies — a nod to Annie’s family — and themed stations including a live sushi and sake bar and a crowd-favorite pizza bar.

Max and Annie’s reception was a celebration of all their favorite things — especially music. The cocktail hour featured live piano by Dallas Piano Rentals, setting a relaxed and elegant tone, while the evening turned up the energy with a DJ from Dart Collective and live bongos, a surprise gift from Annie to Max that brought the dance floor to life.

Franny Pullin Photography captured the day with an effortless blend of warmth, artistry, and authenticity. Through a mix of film and digital, the photographer managed to grasp the true energy of the couple — their joy, movement, and connection shining through every frame. Her photos didn’t just document the wedding, they felt like it: fun, vibrant, and contagious, the kind that make you want to step right into the celebration and dance alongside them.

Complementing the still magic of the photos, Turquoise Video Production brought the celebration to life with a dynamic, heartfelt retelling of the day. Every smile, every spontaneous dance moment, and every joyful detail was captured with an eye for rhythm and emotion.

Grand Exit

Max and Annie took celebration to new heights — literally — departing the reception in a helicopter from Longhorn Rentals, soaring above the estate as their guests cheered from below. Annie sparkled in her outfit change, a dreamy Needle & Thread dress that shimmered in the afternoon light, adding one last magical touch to a day already brimming with unforgettable moments.

With wishes for a wedding that felt “fun and vibey, fancy and thoughtful,” Max and Annie envisioned a day filled with intentional design, personal meaning, and joyful energy — a celebration that reflected both their creativity and their deep connection. Thanks to Annie’s artistic vision and the expert guidance of Amuse Event Co., the result was exactly that and even more.
