Ashtyn and Michael first met at a music festival in Montreal. It was the festival’s final day, with the last band performing. They started a conversation and went their separate ways once the show ended. They exchanged numbers, and the next week, Ashtyn invited Mike out for bourbon and BBQ. They stayed out all night, watching the sunrise, and the rest is history.
Their wedding took place in a beautiful country vineyard, and Ashtyn & Michael’s theme was upscale black tie. They wanted a dreamlike and whimsical atmosphere, surrounded by nature and loved ones. To capture every moment of their special day, they trusted the talented photographer Frances Beatty Photography. She skillfully documented all the moments of happiness and joy during their breathtaking wedding.
Ashtyn looked stunning in a Sarah Seven Noemi Dress, complete with a cape and Rosa veil. Her shoes were ivory block heels handmade in Greece by Dimitra’s workshop. Wendy Rorong and her team, well-known in the fashion industry, did her hair and makeup. She accessorized with a necklace from Blu Boho and carried a bouquet by Ashley Elaine Florals with blushy and pastel pinks mixed with white and greenery.
“I chose Noemi because it was classic and chic and still felt sexy. It was also so flowy and comfortable which made the day that much more amazing. It also came with a gorgeous silk cape, making the look feel more special. It was also was amazing for photos and gave us more to work with especially with the wind and light,” said the bride.
For her second look, Ashtyn rocked Khanum’s Kmora Jumpsuit, inspired by her love for 70’s fashion. She couldn’t resist finishing off the night in a flared white jumpsuit!
Michael spent time with his groomsmen on his wedding morning, playing pool and enjoying refreshing drinks. He was dressed in a Canali tuxedo, with black stone cufflinks from his maternal grandfather, a silk paisley scarf from his paternal grandfather, and Ashtyn’s paternal grandfather’s dress watch – a meaningful gift given to him before he passed six months before the wedding. “It was important for me to carry something from each of these men with me, to ground me in their values on such an important day,” shared Michael.
Michael and Ashtyn chose to skip the first look and see each other walking down the aisle. They wanted to wait till they saw each other right before they got married. This was one that they absolutely wanted to incorporate into their big day, and it made it that much more special. The ceremony took place in the meadow at Georgian Hill Vineyards, with all their guests walking across the bridge spanning the stream that flowed through the property to reach the ceremony space. “We chose this style because we wanted a setting that represented our energy as a couple. Michael and I have always been free spirits and connected with nature,” shared the couple.
Reflecting on the ceremony, the couple added, “We had so many guests say that the ceremony was one of their favorite parts. They said Michael and I seemed so connected throughout the ceremony and that it was very us.”
After the ceremony, the newlyweds stole a quiet moment to savor a glass of champagne and take it all in. It was a special moment, and to Ashtyn’s surprise, Michael presented her with a very thoughtful and personal gift.
The reception took place at the vineyard. After the ceremony, guests were greeted with sparkling wine or Negroni to start the celebration. The warm and rustic harvest tables were adorned with vineyard cross back chairs, chiffon runners, Peyton black and gold chargers, black-handled gold cutlery, and black stoneware side plates. The tables were filled with lush blooms of garden roses in soft blush and white hues, complemented by elegant Italian Ruscus garlands cascading down the center.
Ashtyn and Michael took advantage of the golden hour for some beautiful portraits before happily returning to the reception for the second part of the evening.
Underneath the large, white tent, the harvest tables were elegantly set with gold and black chargers, cutlery, and bud vases filled with white and blush flowers for a touch of romance. Surrounded by their loved ones, the newlyweds joyously celebrated their love in this beautiful setting.
Music played a significant role throughout the day, with a band performing during the first part of the evening. The dance floor was officially opened with the couple’s first dance to Jason Isbell’s “Cover Me Up,” a song that holds special meaning for Ashtyn and Michael as a couple, reflecting their journey together thus far.
Frances Beatty captured the perfect 8mm video that beautifully reflected the classic, boho vibe of Ashtyn and Michael’s wedding, which they will cherish.
Advice from the couple:
• Enjoy the process and all the milestones that come along with planning a wedding. Of course, it will be overwhelming at times, but it will all be worth it when the day comes.
