Location: Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Style: Vibrant, fashionable, tropical
Time of planning: 18 months
Number of guests: 102
Setting: Resort
Season: Fall

Estevan and Michael’s love story began with an unconventional start—meeting through Estevan’s ex-boyfriend and reconnecting later online. Their budding romance faced an early challenge during the pandemic, forcing them into a long-distance relationship just three miles apart. Backyard dates, socially distanced hikes, and stolen moments shaped the foundation of their relationship.

Their engagement stories were just as unique. Estevan first proposed after only three weeks of dating, pizza in hand, and again on a Malibu beach, surprising Michael with a heartfelt moment. Michael returned the gesture with a family proposal, tortilla in hand, leaving Estevan in happy tears. From those quirky beginnings, their bond grew into a shared vision of a life—and wedding—filled with love and laughter.

Location & Planning

Estevan and Michael chose Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, as the destination for their wedding, honoring their shared Mexican heritage while embracing the natural beauty of the region. Cabo’s stunning landscapes, combining lush greenery with ocean views, offered the perfect backdrop for their three-day celebration. Each event was held at a different venue, showcasing the diversity of Cabo’s settings and giving their guests a new and unique experience each day—from a vibrant garden party to a tropical resort dinner, and finally, a glamorous beachfront wedding overlooking the Sea of Cortez.

Welcome Party

The Fiesta Blanca, or White Party, was an unforgettable start to Estevan and Michael’s wedding celebration. Hosted at El Huerto, a charming garden venue, the party embraced a vibrant Mexican aesthetic, blending natural elements with playful and colorful decor. Guests were greeted by a striking hand-painted pink bar adorned with piñatas in bold hues of orange and magenta, setting the tone for a festive evening.

Oversized floral arrangements complemented the bar, incorporating bright tropical blooms that mirrored the lush surroundings. Adding a unique touch, a Baja donkey adorned with a flower crown became an instant favorite for photos, while a Mexican doll with a skirt of tequila shots offered a creative way to kick off the celebrations.

“One of our personal favorite things were a hand-painted pink bar with piñatas at the welcome party, and the couple’s oversized florals, which matched the decor.”

Dressed in sleek custom Zegna suits paired with stylish accessories by Gucci and Versace, Estevan and Michael stood out among their all-white-attired guests. The atmosphere was filled with the warmth of local traditions and fresh farm-to-table appetizers, showcasing Cabo’s rich culinary heritage.

Signature cocktails flowed from a mobile drink cart featuring “Bubbles from El Huerto,” and every detail, from the papel picado banners to the vibrant table settings, reflected the couple’s thoughtful planning. The evening culminated in a dazzling display of fireworks, lighting up the sky and giving the guests a hint of the extraordinary weekend yet to come.

Rehearshal Dinner

For the rehearsal dinner, Estevan and Michael showcased their impeccable style with custom suits by Bode, each reflecting their personality. Estevan opted for a sleek black suit adorned with floral embellishments, paired with chic white sunglasses, while Michael wore a rich rust-colored suit with intricate gold embroidery at the cuffs and hem. Their choice of attire set the tone for a sophisticated yet relaxed evening, blending elegance with a touch of artistic flair.

The dinner took place at the lush Acre Resort, offering a tropical oasis setting. The decor featured earthy tones with dried florals and fresh marigolds arranged in minimalist vases, creating a natural and intimate atmosphere. Woven pendant lights hung above the long dining tables, casting a warm glow as guests enjoyed an open-air meal surrounded by palms. A highlight of the evening was the visit to the resort’s rescue puppies, adding a heartfelt and playful moment to the celebration.

Wedding Day

Grooms' Morning & First Look

On the morning of their wedding, Estevan and Michael prepared in sleek white dinner jackets paired with classic black trousers and bow ties, exuding timeless elegance.

Their first look took place on a private terrace overlooking the ocean, bathed in golden sunlight. Hand in hand, they soaked in the breathtaking views, creating a moment of connection before the festivities began.

“It was very emotional first look with Land’s End as a backdrop.”

Ceremony

The ceremony took place at The Cape Hotel, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Sea of Cortez. A stunning floral arch, adorned with vibrant pink and red blooms like David Austin roses and orchids, framed Estevan and Michael as they exchanged vows under the golden Cabo sunset. Guests were seated in natural woven chairs that complemented the lush greenery and ocean views, adding an organic yet elegant touch to the outdoor setting.

The couple’s personalized vows brought tears to many in attendance. The couple shared, “The ceremony was the most anticipated moment of the day as we both wrote our vows.” The emotional atmosphere was heightened by heartfelt readings and live music, which created an intimate and moving experience for everyone present. The newlyweds exited hand-in-hand, showered with petals, their radiant smiles capturing the joy of the moment.

"The ceremony was kept simple as we let the ocean behind us do most the work with a beautiful pink arch framing us for the big moment."

Private Moment

After the ceremony, Estevan and Michael shared a serene private moment on the beach, taking in the beauty of the Cabo sunset. Hand in hand, they strolled barefoot along the sand, the sound of waves crashing against the shore creating a peaceful ambiance.

These heartfelt moments were exquisitely captured by LA76 Photography, whose artistry shone through in every shot. The golden light, the vibrant ocean hues, and the couple’s radiant emotions were seamlessly blended into a collection of images that tell a story of love, beauty, and intimacy. Each photograph shows the photographer’s ability to preserve emotions and transform fleeting moments into timeless memories.

Decor & Setting

The reception at the hotel transformed the space into a tropical disco wonderland with vibrant colors, elegant details, and creative personal touches. The tables featured lush centerpieces of tropical greenery, pink anthuriums, and bright ginger blooms, paired with amber glassware and black plates. Custom menus, inspired by the couple’s Dolce&Gabbana sequin jackets, added a stylish and personalized flair to each place setting. LED walls displaying Estevan and Michael’s monogram added a contemporary edge, while flickering candlelight enhanced the intimate ambiance.

"On day one of scouting for wedding clothing, we found these stunning sequin Dolce&Gabbana jackets in cheetah and snow leopard prints, and that was the basis for our wedding vision."

“Michael really wanted to incorporate pink into the wedding, and I really wanted to incorporate the natural greenery around Los Cabos, so we married pink and green together as the basis of our monogram, invites, florals, and beyond,” Estevan shared, highlighting the extensive planning and design.

A grand piano adorned with disco balls and tropical blooms became a striking focal point, perfectly blending elegance and fun. The custom pink and white hand-painted dance floor and golden light installations further elevated the atmosphere, creating an unforgettable setting for their evening celebration.

Reception

The reception began with a truly memorable moment as Estevan surprised Michael with a heartfelt performance of Adele’s “Make You Feel My Love,” leaving not a single dry eye among the guests. This touching beginning set the tone for an evening filled with love and celebration.

"Estevan singing Adele made everyone cry, and Michael doing a standup comedy set and making everyone laugh."

Night Celebration

As the evening celebration kicked off, Estevan and Michael made a bold statement by changing into their custom Dolce&Gabbana sequin jackets—a striking snow leopard and cheetah print. Paired with their black trousers and designer shoes, the jackets embodied the vibrant, glamorous energy of their “Haute Tamale” theme. Their sparkling attire reflected the disco balls suspended above the dance floor, setting the stage for a night of lively celebration.

The couple’s first stop after the outfit change was the vibrant dance floor, where the energy skyrocketed as RuPaul Drag Queen superstar Alyssa Edwards delivered an unforgettable performance. Guests were enthralled by her charisma and electrifying moves, which transformed the reception into a full-scale party.

The festivities continued with non-stop dancing, live music, and bursts of laughter. The couple and their guests toasted to love and happiness under the twinkling night sky. As the evening unfolded, the atmosphere was charged with celebration and fun, with Estevan and Michael at the heart of it all, creating memories that will be cherished forever. The night was capped off with a dazzling display of fireworks, lighting up the Cabo skyline and marking the perfect finale to their extraordinary wedding weekend.

“Having RuPaul Drag Queen superstar Alyssa Edwards take the stage to light up the dance floor added an unforgettable and truly unique touch to the celebration!”

Advice from the couple:

The mantra of our wedding planning process was “more is more,” and we are glad to say we were right.

• Hire a wedding planner. You will never regret it, and you’ll save yourself a few grey hairs.

• Also, take a moment alone with your spouse after the ceremony.  Take a moment and savor what you two just experienced.
