Alexis and Zach’s story began in college. Their bond grew from those early days of friendship, evolving into a deep love. This beautiful story set the stage for their eagerly awaited wedding day, a clear reflection of their lasting connection and the path they’ve walked together.

Choosing Amorology Weddings for their special day, Alexis and Zach were impressed by the team’s commitment to detail and their ability to create a unique wedding experience that stood out. The planners excelled at incorporating the couple’s vision of a desert-themed modern romance into every aspect of the day, demonstrating their skill in blending sophisticated designs with personal touches.

The La Quinta Resort was the scenic venue for their entire weekend wedding, offering a desert backdrop that beautifully complemented the event’s clean and minimalistic romance theme. The resort’s lush golf courses and elegant tent settings provided a perfect scene for their fall celebration, enhancing the overall atmosphere with their natural beauty.

“Since I’m from Texas and my husband is from New York, everyone traveled pretty far for our California wedding. We wanted to make the whole experience memorable, so we organized wedding activities throughout the whole weekend for our guests,” said Alexis.

On her wedding day, Alexis looked elegant in her classic white gown, accentuated by a side slit and an eye-catching bow at the back. Her hair, styled in sleek, soft curls, and the bridesmaids’ coordinated outfits in shades of greens and browns, added an extra touch of grace to the occasion.

“I made an event out of dress shopping, went with my mom to New York City to find a dress, and then returned a couple of times for fittings. They were short trips, but we used them to visit with friends in the city and do quintessential New York things like try great restaurants or see shows.” shared Alexis.

Before the day’s festivities began, the couple took a moment to walk around the venue, soaking in the calm before the celebration of their love took center stage.

The ceremony followed Jewish traditions in the resort’s peaceful surroundings. They stood under the chuppah with their family and friends around them, promising to share their lives forever. The ceremony also included breaking the glass, and the desert sunset marked the beginning of their journey together.

After the ceremony, the couple joined their guests at the reception. “At first glance, it may have appeared as a mirage, but the beauty was all real! This desert oasis left us wanting to drink up every detail! We loved playing with dynamic shapes, textures, structural foliage, and blooms from Native Poppy in the prettiest of desert tones of sand, camel, clay, bone, and taupe with accents of cacti, palm, and tropical leaves to play to Alexis’ love of exotic and funky plants and it turned out just gorgeous! Total canopy dreams!” shared Amorology Weddings team.

The evening included several memorable elements: “For Alexis & Zach’s love of tequila and agave plants, we created a custom cocktail escort display with Backup Backdrops where guests found their names and seating assignments on calligraphed brass/silver shakers! Inside the shakers, guests were additionally favored with a favorite cocktail recipe from our couple, which inspired a trip to the tequila bar to sip on their specialty cocktails!” said the planner.

“We opted out of making a traditional wedding cake and instead made Tres Leches mini cakes for everyone, ice cream sandwich cookies, and liquid nitrogen frozen cocktails, which we thought were fun and more of us!” Alexis said.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the bride slipped into her new dress. The DJ’s music filled the air, setting the perfect tone, and as the first notes played, fireworks lit up the sky, marking the vibrant beginning of the after-party.

Advice from couple:

• Patience and persistence! We had to postpone our wedding date twice because of COVID. But we really didn’t want to compromise on our vision or have all of our friends and family there together, so we made the tough decision to wait it out for a year and were so glad that we did! By our actual wedding date in October, everyone was so excited to travel and be together again it made it even more special.

• Enjoy the journey! Looking back the planning process was so special. Even though it is stressful at times and often requires some flexibility when things change, making the little decisions and watching them all come together is so exciting because the actual wedding day itself goes by in a flash!
