Kristen and Dave’s wedding at Sprucewood Shores was the perfect blend of old-world European charm and fresh, modern elegance. Set against a backdrop of lush vineyards, soft summer light, and heartfelt celebration, their day overflowed with laughter, unique decor decisions, and personal details. Every moment — from emotional vows to a lively dance floor — felt like a true reflection of their love story.

Location: Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada
Style: Classic, organic, textured, minimalistic
Time of planning: 1,5 years
Number of guests: 160
Setting: Winery
Season: Summer

Kristen and David’s love story began on a cozy November evening, when they met for their first date at a local restaurant and instantly connected over shared dreams, a deep understanding, and a playful sense of humor. Growing up in Windsor, Ontario, they found in each other not just a partner, but a true best friend. Five years later, just before a trip to San Diego, David surprised Kristen with a heartfelt proposal at home, turning their vacation into an unforgettable engagement celebration filled with ocean sunsets, champagne toasts, and excitement for the future. By winter, they had chosen a beautiful local winery for their wedding — envisioning a day surrounded by greenery, sunshine, and the love of their closest family and friends.

Bride's Look

Kristen chose a stunning La Perle gown made of airy organza, discovered during her final visit to Crème Couture Bridal — a moment she described as falling truly in love. Her look was elegant, soft, and timeless, completed with Hedera slingbacks by Jimmy Choo and delicate vintage silver pearl drop earrings paired with a Swarovski silver tennis bracelet.

Kristen’s soft, natural makeup by Felicity Clark and a sleek, elegant up-do by Natasha Cannon at Salon Utopia perfectly complemented her radiant style. Carrying a lush bouquet of white garden roses, peonies, lisianthus, ranunculus, delphinium, and stock from The Bourbon Rose, Kristen felt beautiful, loved, and exactly herself — a bride who embraced every moment in the dress she adored, without ever needing a second look.

Groom's Fashion

Dave opted for a classic black Vera Wang tuxedo, paired with a sharp bow tie and cummerbund from The Suit Shop. His crisp white pleated shirt, polished black shoes, and single white rose boutonniere completed his traditional, formal look. A Shinola watch from Kristen and his wedding band — a treasured heirloom from Kristen’s grandfather — added personal, heartfelt touches.

Ceremony

The ceremony decor was a beautiful blend of old-world European romance and modern elegance, perfectly reflecting the couple’s love for classic, natural beauty. Inspired by Italian landscapes and Tuscan vineyards, they let the stunning venue and nature speak for themselves. A lush green aisle lined with baby’s breath led to a serene pond, while vintage urns filled with white blooms created an effortlessly layered, organic altar. Every detail felt relaxed, refined, and true to their vision.

Kristen and Dave’s ceremony was a charming and relaxed celebration, a true reflection of their easygoing yet deeply heartfelt style. Surrounded by the love and joy of their closest family and friends, the couple exchanged vows in a setting filled with laughter, happy tears, and an overwhelming sense of support. Kristen shared a deeply emotional first look with Dave as she walked down the aisle on her father’s arm, while the moving notes of Nuvole Bianche’ by Ludovico Einaudi filled the air, making time seem to stand still.

"Having all of our family and closest friends together to celebrate our love made our day even more special."

One of the most unforgettable moments of the day came as Kristen and Dave walked up the aisle together as newlyweds, beaming with pure joy. As This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)’ by Natalie Cole played and their guests cheered around them, the air was electric with happiness — a perfect, heart-filled memory that captured the true spirit of their celebration.

Private Moment

After the ceremony, Kristen and Dave stole a few quiet moments together, letting the magic of the day sink in. Surrounded by nature, they exchanged smiles that said everything words couldn’t. Their happiness, effortless and radiant, was captured by Kelly Rose Photography with ease and heartfelt care. Each shot reflected the couple’s spirit, breathing romance and beauty into every moment of the day. The soft, dreamy color palette of each photograph created a magical, almost hazy feeling, perfectly preserving the emotion and atmosphere of their celebration.

"The day goes by so fast – take a few moments for yourselves during the day. We found that doing so, truly allowed us to slow down, share the excitement that we were just married, and appreciate that all of our favorite people were there celebrating our love."

Decor & Setting

Just like the ceremony, the reception took place at Sprucewood Shores, a stunning winery setting. Kristen and Dave envisioned a celebration that felt light, textured, and effortlessly elegant. Working closely with their planner, Katie Gregg Events, they created a detailed mood board to bring their ideas and neutral, summery color palette to life. Every decision was made with care, evolving thoughtfully as they layered in elements of texture, florals, and natural tones.

Billowing white drapery and delicate string lights floated above long wooden tables, creating a soft, romantic glow throughout the room. Each table was dressed in textured linen by Simply Beautiful Decor, adorned with minimalist white florals and slender candles that added a gentle, ambient warmth. Stone vessels filled with white roses, lisianthus, and delphinium framed the room, adding layers of texture. The neutral, airy palette combined with the earthy materials and lush florals created a setting that was sophisticated, welcoming, and perfectly in tune with Kristen and Dave’s vision.

One of the most fun and memorable touches of the day was the audio guestbook — a vintage-style phone where guests could leave heartfelt, and often hilarious, messages for the couple. Before the reception, Kristen and David recorded their own personal greeting, laughing uncontrollably as they tried to decide what to say, eventually syncing up so perfectly that it sounded delightfully chaotic. Listening back to their message, along with the sweet and funny notes from their guests, became a cherished memory.

Reception

Kristen and Dave’s reception was a lively and ambient celebration, filled with unforgettable moments and personal touches. Their signature cocktails — a refreshing French 75 and a classic Mojito — were a huge hit. Guests gathered around a unique horseshoe head table and long guest tables, enjoying the delicious menu by Dean Litster and Don Kumarasinghe.

The beauty of the venue and the warmth of the summer evening invited Kristen, Dave, and their guests to savor unforgettable moments outdoors. As the sun began to paint the sky with soft, golden hues, the couple celebrated with a champagne tower — a sparkling, joyful moment that perfectly captured the magic of the day.

The couple shared their first dance under a canopy of soft drapery and twinkling lights, surrounded by their loved ones. It was a tender, joy-filled moment, perfectly setting the tone for the night ahead. Kristen, who has always loved to dance, was thrilled when her parents encouraged them to hire The Soul Shakers, a lively local band that brought incredible energy to the celebration. Between the band’s vibrant sets and a DJ who kept the music going strong, the dance floor stayed packed all night long.

As the night carried on, Kristen and Dave shared a playful and sweet moment of cutting the cake by Sweet Revenge Bakeshop, surrounded by the warm glow of candlelight and the laughter of their guests. It was the perfect, lighthearted finale to a day filled with joy, love, and unforgettable memories. With music still playing in the background and the dance floor buzzing with energy, their celebration continued into the night — a beautiful ending to the start of their forever.

"Kristen and Dave enjoyed their day, sneaking away for portraits and little moments together, like it was their own private date night. The way they looked at each other the entire day — so in love, so effortless — was something I won’t forget."

Advice from the couple:

It is easier said than done, but try not to sweat the small stuff. We highly recommend hiring a trustworthy wedding planner, it was the best decision we made.

Remember that not everything will go according to plan. There will be things outside of your control, and that is totally okay. Keep a positive attitude, adapt as things come up, and enjoy the journey. At the end of the day, it is about the experience and the celebration of your genuine love, not perfection.
