A Spring Wedding Filled with Joy and Blooms in Atlanta

Some weddings feel like they were meant to happen in a certain place, at a certain time. Amy and Anthony’s spring wedding at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center was one of those moments—a perfect blend of love, history, and celebration. Set against the backdrop of blooming gardens and elegant architecture, their day was filled with emotion, energy, and unforgettable memories, all beautifully documented by photographer Kim Hymes.

Location: Atlanta, Georgia, United States
Style: Classic, Elegant, Romantic
Time of planning: 1 year
Number of guests: 150
Setting: Art Center
Season: Spring

Amy and Anthony’s journey began in the unlikeliest of places—a hospital. Amy, a travel nurse, and Anthony, whose work briefly brought him to her ICU unit, crossed paths in what seemed like a fleeting moment of destiny. Though they didn’t speak that day, Anthony couldn’t shake the thought of the woman who had captivated him. Determined to meet her, he found a way through a mutual coworker, and their story truly began. Social media conversations turned into a first date, and soon, they were inseparable. Their love grew stronger with time, culminating in a breathtaking Las Vegas proposal in front of the iconic Bellagio fountains.

The couple chose Callanwolde Fine Arts Center for its historic charm and lush gardens, which perfectly align with their vision of a classic and elegant spring wedding.

Bridal Morning

The morning buzzed with anticipation. Amy slipped into her strapless beaded lace gown from Bridals by Lori, complete with detachable sleeves and a delicate blusher veil. A spritz of Jo Malone’s Peony & Blush Suede perfume added a soft floral note to the air.

Her bridesmaids, glowing in ice-blue dresses, filled the room with laughter and excitement. The bridal bouquet, a dreamy mix of white and blush blooms designed by Ornate Events & Designs, reflected the romantic energy of the day.

Meanwhile, Anthony and his groomsmen, dressed in sleek black tuxedos from Men’s Wearhouse, shared a toast, their laughter bouncing off the historic walls. For him, the moment he would finally see Amy at the ceremony was all that mattered, and the weight of that anticipation only made the day more meaningful.

Ceremony

Set against the lush gardens of the venue, the ceremony was a picture of springtime romance. A floral-adorned circular altar framed the couple as they exchanged vows, surrounded by towering trees just beginning to bloom.

The absence of a first look made Amy’s walk down the aisle even more emotional—Anthony’s reaction said it all. As the sunlight filtered through the branches, the two promised forever, sealing their vows with a kiss amid a cascade of soft white petals.

Cocktail Hour

Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a beautifully arranged cocktail hour featuring a champagne wall by Megan Crosby—a chic and interactive detail that set the tone for the evening. The celebratory atmosphere was enhanced by a violinist whose melodies drifted through the garden, creating an ambiance of refined sophistication.

The couple’s signature cocktails, inspired by their love story, added a personal touch to the experience.

Private Moment

As the sun began to set, the newlyweds stepped outside for their golden hour portraits, creating some of the most breathtaking images of the day. Bathed in warm sunlight, they walked hand in hand through the gardens, stealing quiet moments amid the whirlwind of celebration. The soft glow of the evening added a dreamlike quality to their portraits, turning fleeting seconds into timeless memories.

Kim Hymes masterfully captured these golden hour moments, using natural light to highlight the couple’s radiant happiness. Her keen eye for emotion and movement brought out the essence of their connection, making every frame feel intimate and cinematic. The way she played with light and composition ensured that these portraits would forever reflect the beauty of the day and the depth of their love.

Reception & Decor

Inside Callanwolde’s grand reception space, the decor reflected the couple’s vision of timeless elegance. Soft drapery cascaded from the ceiling, adorned with twinkling fairy lights and crystal chandeliers, casting a warm glow over the celebration. Tall floral arrangements of white roses and hydrangeas stood as centerpieces, while candlelit tables added a romantic touch.

The couple’s first dance was not just a formal moment—it was a pure, uninhibited joy. Amy and Anthony twirled across the checkered dance floor, beaming at each other as guests cheered them on. Laughter, movement, and high energy filled the room, setting the tone for a night of true celebration.

Throughout the evening, guests danced freely, raising their glasses and embracing the magic of the night.

One of the sweetest moments of the evening was the cake-cutting. The couple had a classic wedding cake, a timeless centerpiece of the dessert table. Adding a personal touch, Anthony also had a groom’s cake inspired by his college years, a fun and nostalgic detail that brought smiles to the guests.

At the head table, the couple shared a celebratory toast, raising their champagne glasses in a moment of pure bliss. Kim’s photography beautifully captured these emotions, preserving the energy and depth of the night with her signature attention to detail.
