A Spiritual Tulum Wedding with Heartfelt Vows and Beautiful Moments

Featured Members:

Set in the breathtaking Casa Malca, this wedding was a beautiful blend of natural elegance and personal touches. From a spiritual ceremony to a vibrant celebration with family and friends, every moment reflected the couple’s unique style and love for each other.

Location: Tulum, Mexico
Style: Boho chic, beachy glam
Time of planning: 10 months
Number of guests: 80
Setting: On the beach, Casa Malca
Season: Spring

Vanessa and Ian’s love story began at an unexpected party, thanks to a cousin’s invitation. Vanessa never imagined that night would change her life. As she mingled with guests, a tall, charming man with a warm smile caught her eye. “I was sipping a Red Stripe, and when he noticed, his face lit up.” They felt an immediate connection, talking and laughing for hours without even realizing how much time had passed.
A few years later, Ian planned a surprise date that brought them back to the same restaurant where they first met. Surrounded by laughter and memories, Ian got down on one knee and asked her to spend forever with him.

The Vision & Videography

The couple drew deep inspiration from Tulum’s unique blend of artistic charm and natural beauty. “It felt like the ideal backdrop to celebrate not just our union but the essence of who we are as individuals and as a couple.” To make the day even more unforgettable, the videographers at Art & Roses brought an extra layer of magic by interviewing the couple before the wedding, asking about their history and their love story, and creating a magical film of their wedding day. “They were incredible. They are worth it.”

"Art & Roses are the best at what they do, the sweetest people with amazing talent making your memory into a blockbuster movie and a living memory emblazoned with emotion; plan and save ahead."

Couple's Morning & Fashion

On her wedding day, Vanessa felt like a “beautiful, blessed goddess woman”—mostly excited, with a touch of nervousness, but above all, deeply grounded and grateful. She wore the stunning Pronovias Yoshida dress with a skirt attachment and went barefoot, embracing the natural vibe. Long pearl earrings on a gold chain added just the right amount of elegance, while her makeup was flawless natural glam. Her hair, styled in a messy updo, perfectly complemented the wrist bouquet of delicate white orchids she carried, adding a soft, ethereal touch to her look.

On the wedding day, Ian felt grounded, appreciative, and lighthearted, with moments of deep reflection. He was excited but not a hint of nerves. He wore a stylish peach and coral linen suit, complete with artistic silk lining that added a personal touch. The finishing touch was a unique Pampas grass boutonniere, giving his look a perfect pop of color while still keeping the laid-back vibe he wanted.

First Look

The first look was a truly unforgettable moment, charged with emotion and excitement. As Vanessa and Ian locked eyes for the first time that day, the world around them seemed to disappear, leaving only the pure joy and love they shared. Both were overcome with emotion, and it was a moment neither of them would ever forget—one that set the tone for the rest of their wedding day.

Ceremony

The ceremony was magical, set on the beach with the sand beneath their feet and the soothing sound of the waves in the background. The altar felt like a sacred extension of the natural beauty surrounding them. The Mayan spiritual ceremony included song, dance, and heartfelt, spontaneous speeches, drawing everyone into the Earth-based spiritual traditions.
“It was everything we had hoped for and so much more—unexpectedly profound and emotionally moving in ways we couldn’t have imagined.” It was a spiritual awakening for Ian and Vanessa, overwhelming them with joy and gratitude.

"Choosing this type of ceremony was a reflection of who we are as a couple—our shared spiritual connection and our desire to honor something greater than ourselves. The blend of ancient traditions and heartfelt spontaneity made it a moment we’ll carry in our hearts forever."

Reception Decor & Celebration

When planning the day, Ian and Vanessa envisioned an intimate and chic atmosphere, organic yet elevated. Their color palette was intentionally neutral, with soft tones that perfectly complemented the natural beauty of pampas grass, white florals, and earthy textures. Much of their inspiration came from hours spent exploring online, curating ideas that felt timeless and true to the relaxed, modern, and undeniably stylish Tulum aesthetic they adored.

The reception took place at the same location as the ceremony, just a bit closer to the restaurant, where guests enjoyed a seated dinner after cocktails. Their first song was a special mix: D’Angelo’s “Lady,” a song from their history, followed by a choreographed salsa dance and ending with an upbeat Afrobeat pop song where they freestyled.

The moments that stood out most were the spiritual ceremony, looking out at the crowd and seeing people from all parts of their lives—family from different countries, their daughter by their side, and the groom’s brother, a reggae artist, performing both Bob Marley classics and his own original songs.

"Every detail was a reflection of our shared love for simplicity and sophistication, tied together with a deep respect for nature's beauty."

Advice from the couple:

Don’t stress too much, have fun. Enjoy each other. Be really present on the day of.
