A Soulful Wedding Celebration in the Heart of Toledo

Ana and Michael’s wedding in Toledo was a stunning mix of old-world charm and personal touches. From their sacred church ceremony to a candlelit garden dinner at Palacio de Galiana, every detail reflected their roots and romance, brought to life through soft florals, rich textures, and dreamy city views. Captured in Diego De Rando’s signature editorial style, it felt like a timeless love story with a fresh, modern edge.

Location: Toledo, Spain
Style: Old-world elegance, gothic beauty, medieval splendor
Number of guests: 130
Time of planning: 1 year
Setting: Palace & Chrurch
Season: Spring

Ana, born in Venezuela and raised in Miami, and Michael, a Miami native with Colombian roots, first met in seventh grade, but the real spark came years later. After Ana invited Michael to her birthday party, their moms hit it off. “That boy seems like a good one!” Ana’s mom said. Still, they stayed just friends, until a surprise kiss at a senior year party changed everything.

After six years together, Michael proposed in Paris. Ana had no clue, even after asking mid-flight, “So… what are you thinking about our future?” Michael stayed cool. He planned everything – photographer, location, even a fancy UberXL (which totally gave him away – “Michael always gets a regular Uber!”). Dressed up in front of the Eiffel Tower, Michael got down on one knee while Ana stood in total surprise. Just the two of them, the city of love, and a moment they’ll never forget.

Bride's Morning & Fashion

Ana’s wedding morning felt intimate and emotional. The private home in Toledo’s old town was a true hidden gem adorned with incredible works of art, lush gardens, a serene pool, and panoramic views of the cathedral and the Tagus River. A setting so rich in history and charm, it became the perfect setting for a celebration of love, family, and culture.

"Getting ready in a palace turned home was very unique and special. My sister, my cousin, my mom, and my aunts were there with me on this very special day. It felt very intimate and perfect for the day."

Ana’s bridal look was all about timeless elegance with a twist. “I wanted something traditional yet unexpected,” she shared, and her custom gown by Venezuelan designer Ángel Sánchez delivered just that. They combined a classic high neckline with a modern halter silhouette, perfect for the warm summer setting. Inspired by 3D jeweled scales, Ana brought the concept to Ángel, who brought it to life with hand-drawn embroidered petals and delicate crystals.

“It was unlike anything I had seen.” After trying on multiple lace gowns that all felt the same, she knew this design was the one – refined, romantic, and completely her.

The thoughtful details didn’t stop there. Ana wore her gown with white Amina Muaddi pumps, “perfect for the cobblestone streets”, and custom earrings from her aunt’s Peruvian jeweler: a delicate line of diamonds ending in a pearl. Her bouquet, made entirely of sculptural Bouvardia blooms, echoed the clean lines of her dress. “Wrapped around it was a pearl and diamond rosary gifted to me by my mother, one of the most meaningful details of the day.”

Groom's Fashion

Michael wore a custom tuxedo by Luxin in Miami, starting with a white jacket for the ceremony, “a symbol of purity”, before changing into a black one for the reception. Each jacket was personalized with custom embroidered messages on the inside, adding a personal touch. He completed the look with classic patent leather shoes and Bleu de Chanel cologne.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place at the breathtaking Monasterio de San Juan de los Reyes, one of Toledo’s most iconic religious landmarks. With its Gothic arches, intricate stonework, and peaceful atmosphere, the space felt both sacred and cinematic-“the perfect place to get married before God.”

As Catholics, it was deeply important for the couple to get married in the Church, marking the culmination of their sacramental journey. “Standing at the altar felt like a spiritual milestone,” they shared, and guests later described the ceremony as one of the most moving they’d ever witnessed.

"We felt incredibly emotional and present during the ceremony. There was something so special about standing in such a majestic, centuries-old monastery surrounded by all of our loved ones."

Concept & Photography

The timeless charm of Toledo, Spain, inspired the entire vision for the wedding. Surrounded by cobblestone streets, ancient stone walls, and golden sunsets above the river, the city shaped the soul of the celebration. Details like the dark wood texture of the invitations, palace doors, and florals and fabrics influenced by Gothic architecture brought that historic magic to life. “We wanted guests to feel transported into a centuries-old love story,” the couple shared.

That dream was artfully captured through Diego De Rando’s signature editorial style, preserving the emotion, atmosphere, and quiet grandeur of the day. His storytelling approach transformed every scene into a cinematic reflection of history, love, and timeless elegance.

Planning & Decor

With the help of Di Momenti Events, the couple brought together a dream team of vendors across Spain, making the entire planning process feel effortless, even from afar. Ana’s mother, Joali, a talented set designer and a party host in Miami, played a significant role in curating the floral and decor vision. Flowers are her passion, and her creative eye helped bring every detail to life.

The result was a breathtaking al fresco tablescape beneath olive trees, layered with white and ivory blooms, cascading greenery, and towering glass candelabras. Creamy roses, hydrangeas, snapdragons, and Queen Anne’s lace glowed in the candlelight, while soft champagne linens and timeless tableware elevated the scene. A signature touch: the presidential table, arranged in an elegant S-shape, added a sculptural element and beautifully contrasted the surrounding round guest tables, creating a reception layout as dynamic as it was romantic.

Celebration

The reception at Palacio de Galiana, a breathtaking gem along the River Tagus, felt like stepping into a fairytale. As “Te Prometo” by Fonseca played, the couple entered a garden aglow with crystal candelabras beneath olive trees, creating an ethereal, romantic atmosphere. Thoughtful vintage details, like cloth almond flowers handmade by the bride’s mother, added a personal touch. Heartfelt speeches from the groom’s brothers and the bride’s father and sister brought everyone to tears – a moment that will stay with them forever.

"We would say our most memorable moment from our wedding day was our first dance. All of our loved ones watching us from above with the palace behind us. It was truly a once in a lifetime moment, truly magical and special."

Advice from the couple:

Our biggest advice for the wedding day is to be fully present and with your husband/wife at all times because it goes by in the blink of an eye, literally. The day may seem like a blur the morning after, so don’t stress over the small details or anything that doesn’t go exactly as planned – what you’ll remember most is how it felt, not whether everything was perfect.
