Hedge and Matthew met in the Hamptons in the summer of 2019 and got engaged at Blackberry Mountain in October 2023. They now live in Manhattan, New York. When planning their wedding, they imagined a vibrant weekend in Ibiza, an immersive celebration that would introduce their guests to every side of the island, from its rustic agricultural gardens to the crystal-clear blue waters of Formentera.
Location: Ibiza, Spain
Style: Bohemian Luxury Vibes
Time of planning: 18 months
Number of guests: 120
Setting: Garden, Beach Club, Hotel
Season: Summer
The classic allure of Ibiza, with its bohemian party spirit and ultra-luxe, chic crowd, set the tone for Hedge and Matthew’s wedding weekend. Planned and designed by Isla & Smith, the celebration took place at Six Senses Ibiza, which provided the perfect setting for guests to stay and fully experience the island as the celebration progressed, activating six different spaces throughout the hotel. Vintage pieces, hand-dyed drapery, hand-painted dinner plates, and abundant, wild florals in soft tones of nude, sage green, and light pink enhanced each setting while allowing the natural beauty of Ibiza and the venue itself to shine. The entire weekend was beautifully captured by Tali Photography.
Garden Welcome Party
The whole weekend felt especially unique as all of the guests stayed at the same hotel in Ibiza, creating a sense that something was always happening, even when there wasn’t a hosted event. Guests naturally gathered by the pool or at the hotel’s beach club to swim, have drinks, and share meals together.
Every part of the celebration continued to build as guests moved from one space to another, with the energy of the party growing and evolving throughout the evening. It was incredibly exciting for the couple to watch their guests experience the moments they had worked so hard to curate. The wedding weekend began with a vibrant and beautiful garden party, setting the tone for the celebrations that followed.
Boat Party
One of the most memorable moments of the celebration was the boat day to Formentera, when thirteen boats followed one another across the water to and from Beso Beach, turning the journey itself into a vibrant part of the wedding weekend.
The boat day concluded with a relaxed dinner followed by endless dancing, capturing the true spirit of Ibiza. As the sun began to set and the energy of the day carried into the evening, guests gathered to celebrate together by the sea, turning the moment into an unforgettable continuation of the wedding weekend in true Ibiza fashion.
Bride's Morning & Fashion
Hedge had a calm and joyful morning getting ready with her bridal party and family, enjoying a relaxed start to the day before the celebrations began. She chose a vintage sourced getting-ready look styled with Khaite ballet flats, embracing a comfortable yet effortlessly chic approach to the morning.
For the ceremony, Hedge wore a custom Danielle Frankel wedding gown, Manolo Blahnik heels, and family diamonds. She was drawn to Danielle Frankel’s designs for their fashion-forward yet understated aesthetic, which perfectly reflected her personality and the relaxed elegance of their Ibiza celebration.
For the after-party, Hedge changed into a custom Annie’s Ibiza party dress, once again styling the look with her ballet flats. The dress was created from 1930s vintage fabric sourced from Egypt, adding a unique and meaningful touch. Hedge was especially excited to wear each of these pieces and looks forward to repurposing them long after her bridal era.
Groom's Fashion
For the welcome party, Matthew wore a custom Zegna suit that perfectly set the tone for the stylish yet relaxed Ibiza weekend. On the wedding day, he chose a custom Zegna tuxedo, creating a timeless and refined look for the celebration. As a meaningful personal detail, Matthew wore his late father’s Patek watch, adding a deeply sentimental touch to his wedding day look.
Ceremony
The ceremony took place on the rooftop of Six Senses Ibiza, overlooking the water and the natural terrain of the island’s north side. The moment was beautifully captured by videographer Ana Marina Sanz, who documented the couple’s love story and the day’s atmosphere with a thoughtful and artistic approach.
For the ceremony, the couple flew in the family’s longtime cantor, who has been part of Matthew’s family life for many years. She officiated the ceremony, incorporating meaningful Jewish traditions that made the moment deeply personal and emotional.
The chuppah was designed to feel wild, abundant, and overflowing with florals. A vintage piece of lace, chosen to complement the bride’s gown, was draped from the top of the chuppah, adding a delicate and romantic detail. The bride walked down the aisle to “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac, while the groom entered to “Born to Run” by Bruce Springsteen, creating a ceremony that felt joyful, emotional, and completely reflective of the couple.
Reception
Dinner took place in the hotel’s courtyard beneath the olive trees, where guests gathered as the golden hour light settled over the space.
Tables by Mia Sylvia were hand-draped with hand-dyed sage green linen, while plates were individually hand-painted by a local Ibizan artist. The tables were filled with abundant arrangements of nude, pink, and white florals by All For Love London that flowed dramatically across the center, creating a setting that felt both elegant and organic.
Throughout dinner, the Inspiration Band performed as guests danced on their chairs and throughout the dining space, creating a lively atmosphere between heartfelt speeches from family members. After dinner, guests made their way down to the caves, where espresso martini shots were served before the couple cut their cake on a terrace overlooking the sea.
Into The Night
The couple shared their first dance to “Treat You Better” by Rufus before the celebration continued with guests dancing to the Inspiration Band until 1 a.m. The night then transitioned into an after-party in the hotel’s nightclub, where DJ Thomas Jack surprised guests with a late-night set. In true Ibiza fashion, the celebration continued until 5 a.m.
The bride later shared, “I think the part our guests talk about most after the wedding is the late night. It was truly iconic. Looking around the club at 5 a.m. and seeing it still completely packed, with everyone so excited to see Thomas Jack DJ, was pretty crazy.”
Advice from the couple:
• Be true to yourself and your guestlist. Everything doesn’t have to be so traditional, do what feels right so that you and your guests have the best weekend of your lives. If you’re doing a destination, make sure it’s super special and lean into where you are, as you’re making your guests take a lot of time to be there.
