Taj and Morgan, both native Oaklanders, found their paths intertwined since their early childhood. From attending the same home preschool with strict uniform guidelines to sharing school recitals and sports games during their early years, their lives were connected. However, around fourth/fifth grade, Taj relocated to Seattle while Morgan moved to a small school in Montclair, causing a 17-year separation.
The opportunity to reunite arose after a Facebook post of their second-grade class. Taj invited Morgan and her cousin to his birthday party to break the ice. Taj and his mother greeted her as they arrived, evoking nostalgia from their younger days. Their reunion marked the beginning of a beautiful journey together.
Their first official date was on Election night in 2008, forever cementing a significant moment in their journey together. In March 2013, Taj orchestrated a proposal befitting Morgan’s adoration for Disney. In front of the enchanting castle, Taj got down on one knee, declaring their love for all to see. The proposal was flawlessly planned, a testament to Taj’s thoughtfulness and understanding of Morgan’s passions. From that day forward, their love story began a new chapter, filled with enchantment and lifelong promises.
The couple’s main wish was to create a cozy and romantic celebration infused with modern elements that held great significance. Initially, their design plans leaned towards an old-world Hollywood glamour theme. However, just two weeks before the wedding date, the original venue abruptly canceled due to various unforeseen circumstances. Thankfully, the couple discovered a new venue that offered a sense of familiarity, ultimately providing the perfect backdrop to honor the bride’s family’s heritage and create an unforgettable wedding experience.
Morgan’s wedding look was absolutely breathtaking as her hair was elegantly adorned with delicate accessories, and her makeup flawlessly complemented her enchanting appearance. She chose an Alyssa Kristin Gown, complemented perfectly by a Daughter’s of Simone cape and Luna and Stone Bridal Accessories. Adding an extra touch of elegance, Morgan completed her look with Christian Louboutin heels, exuding timeless style and grace.
Taj showcased a modern yet timeless ensemble for the occasion. He opted for a bespoke charcoal-colored 3-piece suit, exuding elegance and sophistication. The single-button jacket featured wide black silk peak lapels, perfectly complemented by a charcoal-colored 3-button shawl lapel vest. Taj completed the look with a black cashmere turtleneck, adding a touch of luxury. He chose sleek black suede Prada boots, ensuring a fashionable and polished appearance.
As the couple caught sight of each other in their wedding attires, their love radiated effortlessly. The moments were beautifully captured by Mashaida, who skillfully documented their wedding day, encapsulating the joy and excitement of their special day.

The ceremony exuded a deep sense of romance as Morgan gracefully walked down the aisle. Taj’s gaze was filled with immense adoration as he laid eyes on her, creating a truly heartwarming moment. Drawing inspiration from the bride’s family background in New Orleans, Stafford Creative + Co incorporated elements that paid homage to New Orleans’ enchanting Garden District. Taking cues from the city’s French heritage and old-world influence, they introduced Euro-inspired furniture, intricate details, and textures. The carefully chosen main color palette, textures, and contrasts played a significant role in creating the desired ambiance. A family table, lined with sumptuous velvet, set the stage for lush flowers, chestnuts, and figs, evoking a warm and inviting atmosphere. This arrangement served as a gentle nod to the season of gratitude, reminding everyone to appreciate the day’s blessings.
Given that the couple tied the knot during a challenging time amid the pandemic, their focus on health and family was paramount. Therefore, expressing thankfulness and gratitude became an essential aspect of the celebration. The meticulously selected taper candles, intricately carved to create a spindled appearance, added a remarkable level of detail to the overall decor.
To complete the personalized touch, wax seals featuring the bride and groom’s initials adorned each place card, adding a final, elegant flourish to the table setting.
Morgan and Taj were overflowing with joy, surrounded by their nearest and dearest on their special day. The outpouring of love and support they received filled their hearts with immense happiness and gratitude. Having their loved ones by their side made the celebration more meaningful and unforgettable.
The cake was the final touch to the lovebirds’ flawless reception, adding an extra layer of sweetness to their perfect celebration.
