Alexis and Jamie, a stunning couple living in the Bahamas, have unique cultural backgrounds. The bride, Alexis, has a mix of Greek-American and Bahamian heritage, and the groom, Jamie, comes from a family that immigrated from the UK to the Bahamas. They met in 2016 after graduating from University and returning to the Bahamas. Their paths crossed on November 11th, 2016, and they began dating shortly after being introduced by Jamie’s sister, Emma. They met on the stunning island of Exuma, a location that holds a special place in their relationship. Despite being complete opposites, they find balance in their differences, creating a beautiful harmony in their relationship.
Alexis mentioned that she missed Jamie’s initial proposal: “In November of 2021, Jamie planned the most magical weekend in the Exumas, devising a plan to take me to the place where we first met. It would have been so romantic and sentimental had I not caught Covid, thwarting his plans entirely! Jamie, ever so calm and collected, had to devise an entirely new plan for the following weekend on another Bahamian island, proposing to me at Kamalame Cay. Despite the change in plan, it was a dream come true as I still got to marry my best friend!”
The Welcome Party on Friday night had a disco theme and was held at the stunning cliffs of Vouliagmeni. The couple aimed for a whimsical and laid-back atmosphere, incorporating the greenery of the surrounding landscape with the metallic tones typical of a disco party. Nestled into the cliff’s side, it felt like a cozy, intimate dinner for the couple and their 240 closest family and friends. “We loved that many of our guests could meet or reconnect on this night, creating an amazing energy before transforming into an unforgettable dance party!! It’s a night we’ll always cherish, truly a time for everyone to let loose and disco baby!” shared Alexis and Jamie.
To ensure all the precious moments were perfectly captured, the couple selected the talented Thanos Asfis and Anna Roussos. Through their editorial style, they flawlessly documented this heartfelt and family-centric destination wedding in Greece. From the pre-wedding events on Friday to the stunning wedding fireworks, they skillfully preserved every detail and the joyous emotions of this unforgettable day for Alexis and Jamie.
Jamie and Alexis wanted their guests to feel connected to one another and get a chance to know each other: “These are some of the most important people in our lives and we wanted to give everyone a chance to meet and connect before the wedding. Our welcome party afforded us the best opportunity to do this as Jamie and I arranged seating charts for those we thought could be friends! It ultimately created such a beautiful and warm environment filled with so much energy and love and allowed everyone to feel comfortable at the wedding! We have so many guests who tell us they now keep in touch with the new friends they met at our wedding – so mission accomplished!”
On the wedding morning, Alexis was filled with joy. The bride went with a slicked-back chignon for her wedding hair, which would remain in place throughout the day’s festivities. Makeup was also very natural, with a subtle winged cat eye, blush, and dewy skin. She really wanted it to resemble her everyday look: “I had the sweetest makeup artist/hair stylist, Vassia Papakonstantinou, who was so easygoing and lovely to work with! She really understood my vision for Friday and Saturday and did a wonderful job!” added Alexis.
Jamie started his wedding day with a stunning sea view. He and his groomsmen chose classy black suits paired with bow ties.
The ceremony took place at the Holy Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, which was an absolute dream come true for the couple.
It was such a special ceremony: “We were so incredibly blessed to be married at the Holy Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens by Father Thomas Synodinos, along with four very special priests from America who have been our spiritual leaders throughout different points in our lives. The sacrament of our marriage truly felt like a dream, and Jamie and I were so blessed to have these special men fly to Greece to be there for us and pray over us on our wedding day. It is something we will forever cherish, and to be married in the Cathedral will forever feel like something out of a dream,” – shares the couple.
The newlyweds were incredibly fortunate to collaborate with some of the most professional and caring vendors. They truly went the extra mile to make their wedding weekend unforgettable. They were also grateful to their photographers, who captured perfect wedding photos: “We absolutely loved working with Thanos Asfis and Anna Roussos. They were not only skilled professionals but also a joy to work with. They truly understood our vision for capturing our special day, and it has been amazing to revisit our memories through their photographs.”
As an interior designer, Astir Palace was a dream wedding venue for Alexis. The property’s rich history added to its significance, as they felt a deep connection to its storied past and the numerous remarkable events and guests that have passed through there over the years. The venue held special memories for Alexis and her family, who had spent many wonderful summers together. It was truly special to share this place with Jamie.
“When planning the wedding, we knew we had to plan with the venue in mind. While Friday’s welcome party was very integrated into nature and could be more whimsical, we felt the wedding and wedding design needed to feel connected with the incredible 1960s mid-century modern architecture. We kept the details neutral and timeless, with gorgeous white flowers, modern furnishings, and so many candles all set around a courtyard of four olive trees that so beautifully represented our incredible host country. The venue also overlooked the Athenian Riviera, and we were so lucky to have the most beautiful sunset that night to bring us into the evening’s festivities,” – added the couple.
The reception overflowed with love and heartfelt toasts from beloved guests who flew to Greece to celebrate the love of Alexis and Jamie. With the invaluable assistance of the Fevronia Luxury Concepts team, the couple’s wedding day dreams became a reality. “They were an absolute dream to work with and became like our second family! Fevronia and her son Alexandros were consummate professionals; they went above and beyond to make sure all our visions came to life and were truly a dream to work with.”
After the breathtaking fireworks display, the newlyweds and their guests danced the night away. The DJ was phenomenal, effortlessly elevating the energy for a disco-themed night and setting the perfect vibes for the wedding celebration!
Advice from the couple:
• Our wedding planner gave us really great advice at the beginning and asked us to rank each wedding decision from most to least important. This allowed us to hone in on what was most important to Jamie and what was most important to me to ensure both of our wishes were met and help us not sweat some of the decisions that were not as critical. While all of these decisions are important, what we both remember the most is the joy of being together with all of our loved ones. Our guests truly filled our wedding weekend with so much love and helped us to create so many incredible memories and ultimately THAT is what we will always remember.
