A Dreamy Destination Wedding in the Heart of Greece

Kyle and Isabella’s wedding was a beautiful blend of their personalities and their love for adventure. They organized a stunning destination wedding in Athens, bringing together their closest family and friends for a celebration they’d never forget. From the warm Mediterranean backdrop to the thoughtful touches throughout the day, their wedding was an elegant yet relaxed affair that reflected their unique love story and personal style. It was a day filled with joy, connection, and unforgettable moments, perfectly captured against the beauty of Greece.

Location: Athens, Greece
Style: Mediterranean Summer wedding
Number of guests: 60
Setting: Outdoor wedding
Season: Summer

Isabella and Kyle first met while working in New York City. “I was on the 2nd floor, and he was a contractor renovating the floor below,” Isabella recalls. One day, one of his team members accidentally drilled through her floor, leading Isabella downstairs to sort out the issue. That’s when she met Kyle and was immediately drawn to him. Later that day, they bumped into each other at lunch and soon made plans to get drinks. Fast forward to the proposal—Kyle surprised Isabella on a rooftop in downtown Kansas City with her parents by their side. “I wasn’t expecting it at all,” she says, “because he’s so shy, and a public proposal didn’t seem like something he would do.” But in that moment, surrounded by applause and cheers, Kyle proved how unpredictable love can be.

The Vision & Photography

Kyle and Isabella initially had their hearts set on an intimate elopement in Greece, just them and their closest family members. But Isabella’s mom had other plans, quickly shutting down the idea as she had envisioned a big, traditional American wedding. However, that didn’t quite align with their personalities. After some gentle persuasion, they found a middle ground—a destination wedding in Greece. It took months of planning and deciding on the perfect location, but eventually, they settled on Athens. “It was logistically the easiest and allowed our guests to plan their trips with a lot more ease,” they shared. And looking back, they couldn’t have been happier with their decision!

Panos Demiropoulos Studio was the ideal choice for Kyle and Isabella, capturing every unforgettable moment of their destination wedding in Greece with effortless elegance. Every detail was perfectly documented, from the intimate pre-wedding dinner set against the stunning backdrop of the Mediterranean to the magical fireworks lighting up the night sky. The energy of the celebration, from the heartfelt ceremony to the lively party, was beautifully preserved in the photos, ensuring that the couple can relive the joy of their special day for years to come.

Pre-Wedding Dinner

Before the wedding day, Isabella and Kyle welcomed their guests for an intimate pre-wedding dinner on a stunning rooftop, setting the tone for a magical weekend. With warm personal touches and a breathtaking view, 60 loved ones gathered to celebrate the couple. Isabella made a chic entrance in a stylish mini-dress she had searched for months. “The rehearsal dinner dress was the hardest for me to find. I didn’t want something that was trending or that everyone was currently wearing, so I scoured the internet for months before finding the dress I wore. It had a heart on the front, and I liked that it was simple but different.” The evening was filled with heartfelt conversations, incredible food, and excitement for the big day ahead.

Wedding Day

The Morning & Fashion

Isabella’s wedding morning was filled with warmth and memorable moments. Reflecting on the day she went dress shopping, she shared, “I went wedding dress shopping with my mom, aunt, and closest friend, and it was such a calm day.” Being decisive by nature, Isabella knew exactly what she wanted. “I know what looks good on my body, and I know what I want, so deciding on a dress was not difficult at all,” she said. She carefully built her wedding looks to be unique, starting with a stunning, fully fitted lace dress and cathedral veil that exuded elegance. In contrast, her second look of the night was fun and playful. Each look was effortlessly chic, reflecting her personal style and who she is.

Before sharing her first look with Kyle, Isabella had a heartfelt moment with her family. It was a truly special and emotional experience for everyone.

Isabella played a special role in helping Kyle create his wedding look, and she had a lot of fun with it. “Kyle’s tux was so fun for me to build,” she shared. She added personal touches like cufflinks engraved with his initials in Greek and had his shirt embroidered with his initials as well. Having only ever seen Kyle in suits, the thought of him in a tux was something Isabella eagerly anticipated, making the moment even more special on their wedding day.

First Look

The first look unfolded against a stunning backdrop, creating a magical setting for the moment. Panos Demiropoulos Studio captured the couple’s heartfelt emotions as they saw each other for the first time before saying “I do,” making the experience truly unforgettable.

Ceremony

The ceremony had stunning sea views and surrounding mountains, creating a breathtaking setting for the couple’s vows. The floral archway, beautifully adorned with white and blush blooms, perfectly framed Kyle and Isabella as they exchanged their vows, adding a touch of elegance to the natural surroundings. Isabella walked down the aisle, looking radiant in her gown, while the soft music of a string quartet set the tone for the intimate and heartfelt moment.

The couple tied the traditional wedding ribbons, symbolizing their unity and love. Surrounded by close family and friends, their ceremony perfectly combined tradition, beauty, and personal touches, making it an unforgettable moment for all the guests.

Moments Alone

The newlyweds were happy to have a few quiet moments together before joining their loved ones for the celebration. They enjoyed the beauty of the sea and nature, savoring the peaceful time as the newlyweds. Their photographer at Panos Demiropoulos Studio captured stunning portraits that reflected the intimacy and joy of those unforgettable moments.

Reception Decor

The couple decided on a summer wedding, ensuring that all their cousins and family members still in school could attend, and it was the perfect season for a warm-weather honeymoon. Initially, Isabella had imagined a classic white theme, but in a moment of panic, everything changed. “One night, I texted my friend, who has an amazing vision for florals, and we completely shifted the theme.” Trusting her instincts, she embraced a palette of peaches, lilacs, and soft pinks, feeling that white might have been too subtle against the stunning venue scene. In the end, she couldn’t have been happier with the decision. “The florals stood out and elevated everything, creating the clean, classy, and elegant vibe I was aiming for,” she shared, grateful for the help of her planners at inEventive in bringing it all to life.

Reception

The wedding concept was all about having a big, unforgettable party. Isabella’s main goal was to ensure everyone had a great time and walked away with memories they’d cherish forever. “I wanted people to have fun and go to a wedding they would remember forever,” she shared.

One of the most special moments of the day, aside from the ceremony, was their first dance. The newlyweds had chosen a deeply personal song they had never heard anyone else use at a wedding. “Neither of us wanted to go up there and just rock back and forth,” the bride said. In the weeks leading up to the big day, they took dance lessons, and on the night of the wedding, all that preparation paid off. As they moved together on the dance floor, it felt like a private moment, even though they were surrounded by loved ones. “We felt so connected, like nobody was watching us,” she recalled. It was far more intimate and special than either had anticipated, making it a truly unforgettable experience.

The newlyweds arranged for plenty of entertainment to achieve this, which she said was “so worth it.” The night was filled with a live saxophonist, fireworks, a cigar roller, and a fun photo booth. Paying attention to every detail, she even brought personalized touches from the States, like matches for the cigars and cocktail napkins featuring a playful game of “2 truths and a lie” about the couple. Every element came together to make the celebration as unique as their love story.

"Everyone complimented us on every detail and how fun the night was- we were there until 4 am! It’s been several months, and the wedding is still being talked about. The entire experience brought the people that went closer together, and I couldn’t be happier with the memories we made that week."

Advice from the couple:

The wedding day for a destination bride is probably the most difficult. I had never been to Greece before the wedding, nor did I see the venue (crazy, right?). So you have put a lot of trust in people to make sure everything turns out perfectly, and you lack a lot of control. I was thankfully surrounded by a lot of close friends and family that really calmed me down and supported me. We all know that little things will go wrong, but remember that nobody else knows how it’s “supposed” to go, so don’t worry. Make sure you are surrounded by only the people you love because you will need them on the day of. Finally, just relax, the ceremony can’t start without you and if you’re late, don’t stress, it will all work out, truly.
