A Coastal Intimate Wedding Filled with Love, Laughter, and Beach Bliss

Wedding season: Autumn (April)
The number of guests: 40
Wedding theme/style: A warm beachy relaxed atmosphere with splashes of clean modern, white florals and Cocktail style glam.

Briar and Darcy are one of a kind. Their calm and easy presence welcomes people into their world, and you can not help but fall easily into their energizing and wild personalities. They first met at a bar on the Sunshine Coast in 2015, where one of Darcy’s friends convinced him that Briar was checking out his butt…

That’s as simple as it needs to be to find your forever person. Needless to say, Darcy hit the jackpot with Briars easy going, ever entertaining and bubbly personality. In return, Briar has a home in Darcy’s adventurous, vibrant, and loyal heart. You can often see the strength of a couple when they both giggle and laugh at the same things. When they are generous with their laughter and sense of adventure, and when they relax into themselves when the other is with them. This is Briar and Darcy.

After living long distance from their friends and family due to Covid, Briar and Darcy wanted their wedding to be more than one day, but rather a weekend away with their favorite people held in one of their favorite beach destinations — an intimate and relaxed weekend with the ones they love. The seclusion and simpleness of Stradbroke Island were all they needed to enjoy the sun, some (or lots of) booze, and endless oysters with the people they loved most.

The couple celebrated their intimate wedding in a beach house they exclusively rented, creating a space where they could savor their special day in a manner that resonated with their unique style. Guests relaxed on lounges, indulging in delectable cocktail-style food platters provided by Stradbroke Island Events, while skilled bartenders crafted their favorite drinks. Adding to the experience, one of Darcy’s friends owned an Oyster farm, treating the guests to an endless abundance of Australia’s finest oysters as they spilled espresso martinis down linen pants on the dancefloor. It was a perfect mess of glam, beach, and authenticity.

Briar wore a gown by Rachael Rose Bridal, which with its glamourous structure and sexiness, fit her personal style perfectly. She loved simple off-the-shoulder dresses, and one popped up on her Instagram feed from a bit of boutique f- a local designer in Perth, and she knew it was the one before she even tried it on. Salt Media, an exceptional wedding cinematographer and photographer duo, artfully captured the wedding of Darcy and Briar. Nath, the talented videographer, approached the day with a deep appreciation for preserving every cherished moment. His unwavering commitment to delivering the highest quality cinematography and service shone through in every frame. With a keen understanding of the importance of discretion, Nath skillfully operated behind the scenes, ensuring the best technical results while remaining inconspicuous to the guests. He effortlessly created an atmosphere of comfort and relaxation, especially for those who may have felt hesitant about being in front of the camera.

Meanwhile, Soph immersed herself in her creative world, skillfully capturing images that authentically reflected the couple’s relationship and celebration. Her keen eye for light and her dedication to capturing genuine emotions allowed her to create a visual narrative that truly resonated with Darcy and Briar. Together, their expertise and artistry created a timeless visual masterpiece, preserving the cherished memories of Darcy and Briar’s unforgettable day.

Briar and Darcy added personal touches throughout their wedding to make their wedding more about home than what makes a traditional wedding. Darcy’s sister was their celebrant, which created an instant sense of familiarity and warmth. Their ceremony was emotional, pure, and gentle, with plenty of the couple’s iconic humor and clumsiness celebrated throughout.

As Briar walked down the aisle, the music suddenly stopped, and she burst into her contagious laughter as people ran to fix the problem. After words at the alter were nervously fumbling, dirty jokes, and loads of tears from the both of them, and you couldn’t wipe the smiles off their faces as rose petals were launched at their eyes as they walked back down the aisle married.

When the shoes came off and were replaced by sand in the toes, Briar’s gown followed suit and became effortless and relaxed.

The evening was filled with laughter, heartfelt embraces, and lively dances that carried on well into the night. It was a celebration that embodied the essence of Briar and Darcy, a couple whose love and laughter illuminated the hearts of all who shared in their special day.

Advice from the couple

Try and have fun with it and enjoy every moment leading up and the day of your wedding; it goes so fast! If you are thinking of having a smaller, intimate wedding, I would definitely recommend it! Having the people you love and are most comfortable with as guests definitely made it a lot less stress and more enjoyable.
