Samantha and Jake’s cliffside wedding in Santorini was a vision of romantic elegance, brimming with heartfelt moments and dreamy details that inspire. The stunning Greek summer set the perfect backdrop with its clear blue skies, shimmering ocean views, and golden sunsets over the caldera. Every element of their special day was thoughtfully curated, creating a celebration that was as unforgettable as it was breathtaking.

Time of planning: 1 Year
Number of guests: 122

The couple’s journey began in Los Angeles, California, in 2015, where they met as close friends and gradually fell in love. Jake’s proposal was as thoughtful as it was romantic, surprising Samantha with a catered backyard lobster and clam bake in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, surrounded by their closest family and friends. Fast forward to their wedding day, and their love story culminated in a dreamy ceremony overlooking the iconic caldera.
The talented Renaud Film & Photo team captured these magical moments. Their expertise in blending natural light with the couple’s genuine emotions resulted in a collection of timeless photographs. Every shot, from the intimate ceremony to the lively reception, showcased the beauty of Santorini and the joy of Samantha and Jake’s love story.
Welcome Dinner
The pre-wedding dinner for the lovebirds was a heartwarming start to their wedding celebration. Set against a surprising and stunning mountain backdrop in Santorini, the evening felt like a hidden gem amidst the island’s famous coastal scenery. The restaurant offered breathtaking views of the mountains, a refreshing change from the usual postcard-perfect images of whitewashed buildings and blue-domed churches.
Sam's friend Kate made this dress for their rehearsal dinner, and I've got to say, this might be the best rehearsal dinner duo I've ever seen. This is straight out of a Pinterest board.

Wedding Day
Getting Ready & First Look
Planning this dream wedding took a year of meticulous preparation. Samantha worked closely with her wedding planners, Julia & Evita, curating inspiration boards that reflected the natural splendor of Santorini. The vision was to create a serene, elegant environment that seamlessly blended with the island’s neutral landscape and striking ocean views.
Samantha walked down the aisle in a stunning “Sterling” gown by Louvienne, purchased at Lovely Bride. The dress featured a classic silhouette with modern touches, perfectly complementing her romantic, soft-glam makeup and messy updo.
Her look was completed with pearl-studded heels, vintage dangling pearl earrings (her “something borrowed”), a pearl bracelet (her “something old”), and a champagne-colored feather and pearl evening bag. Her veil, a delicate pearl-adorned piece by Alexandra Grecco, added the final touch of elegance. Samantha’s bouquet of pink and white roses was a perfect match for the soft, romantic theme of the day.
Jake looked dapper in a custom cream linen suit by Indochino, paired with brown Steve Madden loafers and a gold MVMT watch. His look was a perfect blend of style and comfort, reflecting the relaxed yet refined vibe of the day. The couple’s coordinated outfits were a testament to their impeccable taste and shared sense of style.
The couple’s first look was an unforgettable moment, filled with excitement and love. Samantha walked towards Jake, her elegant gown flowing gently in the breeze. Jake, dressed in a sharp cream linen suit, stood with his back to her, clearly brimming with anticipation. When he finally turned around and saw Samantha, his face lit up with pure joy and emotion.
Ceremony
The wedding took place on a summer’s day, high above the azure waters of the Aegean Sea. The couple chose the boutique Rocabella Hotel for its unparalleled views and luxurious yet intimate ambiance. With 122 guests in attendance, the setting was one of romantic simplicity and soft elegance echoed the natural beauty and Cycladic architecture of Santorini.
The ceremony, officiated by Samantha’s close cousin, was held at the highest point of the hotel, providing a breathtaking backdrop of the caldera. The ceremony arch, adorned with baby’s breath and hydrangeas, framed the couple beautifully as they exchanged their vows.
The atmosphere was one of joyous anticipation and heartfelt emotion, with the couple feeling both excited and overwhelmed by the love and support of their guests.
Reception
The reception was a continuation of the elegant simplicity that characterized the entire event. Guests were greeted by a local saxophonist during the cocktail hour, setting a sophisticated tone for the evening. The couple made their grand entrance with a champagne tower, a glamorous touch that set the stage for the night’s festivities. The tables, draped in soft neutral linens, were illuminated by hanging chandeliers, creating a magical atmosphere as the sun set over the caldera.
The couple’s first dance to “Beyond” by Leon Bridges was a touching moment that highlighted their deep connection. As night fell, the celebration continued under the twinkling lights, with guests dancing and enjoying the breathtaking views.
The evening was filled with heartfelt toasts from Samantha’s parents, two of Jake’s best men, and the maid of honor.
We had our wedding at a Cycladic style boutique hotel situated along the caldera. The hotel had many levels, and during the reception, we managed to sneak away for a moment to gaze at the breathtaking scenery and our guests who had flown in from all over to celebrate our love.
Sam, the bride
Once the formalities concluded, the party truly began. The dance floor quickly filled as the DJ played a mix of classic hits and modern favorites. Friends and family danced with abandon, their joy evident in every movement. The Hora, a traditional dance where Jake was lifted on a chair, added a spirited and playful element to the evening. Laughter, music, and the clinking of glasses filled the air as guests celebrated under the starlit sky.
Advice from the couple:
• We were nervous to have a destination wedding since we knew that not all of our friends and loved ones would be able to make the trek. However, we were surprised by how many guests were able to make the trip!
Our wedding felt like a dream vacation with all of our friends and family celebrating not just on the wedding day but a few weeks of celebrating our love. Since our venue was a boutique hotel many of our guests stayed in the property with us. That was so special to have all our loved ones and friends together in one place!
