A Catalonian Wedding Inspired by a Sapphire Ring

Set in the golden hills of Girona, Anthony and Jazmin’s late summer wedding unfolded at the historic El Moli de la Torre, a countryside estate where Salvador Dalí once spent time as a child. From their Catholic vow renewal at a centuries-old monastery to the candlelit dinner under string lights on the villa’s front lawn, every detail reflected a clear vision: a timeless, intentional day where their closest family and friends could gather, connect, and savor something beautiful together.

Location: Girona, Spain
Style: Classical, Mediterranean, ethereal
Time of planning: 14 months
Number of guests: 75
Setting: Ceremony – church, reception – estate
Season: Summer

Anthony and Jazmin first crossed paths in seventh grade, sharing the same homeroom and several classes, though they rarely spoke back then. It wasn’t until after high school that they reconnected through mutual friends on Facebook and eventually began dating a year later. Their relationship grew steadily over time, without pressure or rush. “It wasn’t until we moved in together and started discussing having a family that we felt it was the right time to take that step,” Jazmin shared. Now living in a home Anthony renovated in Pennsylvania, they spend their time hiking and traveling — having explored places like Japan, New Zealand, and South Africa — which naturally led them to plan a destination wedding.

Bridal Morning

Jazmin started her wedding morning surrounded by soft natural light, preparing for the day in the rustic charm of the estate. Her vision was clear from the start: an off-shoulder dress with corset structure and a classic mantilla veil. She chose the Indu dress by Katherine Tash, a silk silhouette that hugged her shape with fluid elegance. As soon as she tried it on, she knew — “I had no critiques trying it on and really didn’t want to take it off!”

To elevate the look, she added custom lace sleeves, an idea first suggested by her sister. Jazmin ordered extra lace from the designer and had sleeves tailored to match the gown perfectly, creating a romantic, seamless finish.

Her veil, made by One Blushing Bride, was designed using the same lace as her dress — a choice Alisha, the designer, encouraged and brought to life.

Jazmin styled her hair in soft Hollywood waves, keeping it down to flow naturally under the mantilla. For makeup, she asked Barcelona Beauty Spa to keep things classic and understated, focusing on accentuating her eyes. She completed the look with the Kamilah heels by Badgley Mischka, chandelier earrings from Jade OI Studios, and a simple gold necklace gifted by her mom. She wore two wedding rings — a marquise sapphire custom band and an antique Victorian-inspired sapphire ring from Ashley Zhang — each chosen for its richness in character.

Groom's Fashion

Anthony opted for three sharp looks throughout the day, starting with a classic black tuxedo by Knot Standard for the ceremony, a white dinner jacket for the reception, and a gold-patterned smoking jacket for the afterparty. He paired each with details that reflected his personal style — a David Yurman beveled wedding band, a Cartier Santos watch, and a hex bead bracelet.

Their invitation suite, created by Love Me Do, featured hand-illustrated artwork and elegant serif fonts, giving guests an early sense of the timeless, destination feel of the celebration.

First Look

Before the ceremony, Anthony and Jazmin met for a quiet first look in the garden courtyard. With soft light falling between the arches, they took a moment away from the schedule to read their personal vows to each other. It was one of the rare pauses in the day — slow, intentional, and deeply grounding. “The most memorable moment for me was the ceremony and the first look. Both were really intentional moments that forced him to slow down and stay present. In the whirlwind of the day, having this time was invaluable,” shared Anthony.

Ceremony

Anthony and Jazmin held their Catholic vow renewal at the Monestir de Sant Miquel de Fluvià, a Romanesque church from the 11th century with high stone arches and narrow windows that filled the space with soft, diffused light. The couple kept the décor minimal, allowing the monastery’s historic architecture to take center stage. Clusters of candles lined the altar steps, casting a warm glow across the stone. A few vases of greenery were placed thoughtfully near the front — just enough to soften the ancient interior without interrupting it. The setting felt untouched and sacred, perfectly in line with the couple’s love for meaningful simplicity.

The ceremony was led by Father Joby, a priest from La Sagrada Familia, who got to know Anthony and Jazmin personally before the wedding. He crafted a lighthearted yet deeply thoughtful service that reflected their story and values. A violinist and cellist played live music, adding a rich, emotional layer to the space. After the service, the couple walked out to a joyful shower of flower petals — a moment they later recalled as one of their favorites. It was a 30-minute ceremony by design, just long enough to be meaningful, and slow enough to be remembered.

" Looking back, it was one of the slowest moments of the day where we were able to remain present and really take in the moment."

Unforgettable Stories

After the ceremony, Anthony and Jazmin drove off in a retro cream-colored car for a photo session in the countryside, with Marcos Sanchez capturing every frame.

On the walk, the couple laughed about the unexpected travel saga of their best man. After not one but two flight cancellations, he rerouted his entire trip — booking a flight out of a different airport, taking a chaotic Uber ride, renting a car, and driving straight to the villa where everyone was getting ready. He made it just two hours before the ceremony. “We are so grateful he went through all of that for our day. I will forever remember it!” Jazmin said. His determination to be there set the tone for a day filled with love and loyalty.

Planning a destination wedding across continents came with its challenges, but working with Phaedra Liakou made the entire experience seamless. “Not only did she bring our vision to life but her attention to detail was remarkable,” the couple shared. Based in Greece, Phaedra coordinated every detail remotely, often meeting with Anthony and Jazmin at 7 a.m. before their workdays. From the ceremony’s understated decor to the sculptural elegance of the reception tablescape, her guidance shaped every element with precision and care. “We couldn’t be happier… she exceeded our expectations in every way.”

Decor & Setting

For the reception, the couple transformed the front lawn of the estate into a glowing dinner scene at golden hour. Two curving tables stretched beneath string lights, lined with natural linen runners, ivory taper candles, and loose, organic arrangements by Best Day Ever. Florals in soft whites and pale blush tones spilled from ceramic vessels, styled in asymmetrical shapes that felt effortless and sculptural.

The countryside setting added warmth and texture, with views of the surrounding fields and weathered stone walls. Every element was curated to feel natural, inviting, and intentionally unpolished — just as Jazmin had imagined, and beautifully brought to life by Phaedra Liakou, who understood her vision down to the smallest detail.

Cocktail Hour

The cocktail hour took place in the villa’s inner courtyard, surrounded by aged stone walls and ivy-covered arches that gave the space a relaxed, sun-soaked feel. Guests mingled with drinks in hand while a live band from Live Band Music played softly in the background. The setup featured bistro-style tables, vintage chairs, and patterned rugs from La Bobila Atelier, creating a lounge-like atmosphere tucked between old Catalonian facades. It was the perfect transition from the emotional ceremony to the celebratory evening ahead.

"We had so much fun catching up with our close friends and also walked around to guests to speak with as well."

Reception

Jazmin’s sapphire engagement ring inspired the entire reception palette — soft blues, whites, and natural textures carried across the table settings and floral design. Each place was set with patterned ceramic plates, handmade tiles with the guest’s name, and a personal letter from the couple printed on seeded paper. “I thought it was a fantastic way to really express to each guest the impact they’ve had in our lives,” Jazmin shared. The long tables curved through the lawn, lined with glass candleholders and asymmetrical white florals, catching the last of the sunset before dinner began.

Jazmin and Anthony moved between tables during the whole dinner to connect with everyone. Two heartfelt toasts — one from Jazmin’s sister, Natalie, and another from their longtime friend and best man, Jacob — brought laughter and tears.

Signature cocktails like Raspberry Daiquiri and Gin Basil Smash were served as the night carried on. One of the most personal touches came from Anthony’s whiskey collection and curated cigar bar. He brought a selection to share, explaining each bottle and pairing it with cigars — a moment that turned into a favorite memory for many of their guests.

Later in the evening, the couple cut into a two-tier vanilla cake with vintage piping details made by Bimba’s Cakes. Surrounded by delicate blue flowers in ceramic vases, the cake was displayed simply and beautifully under soft lighting. Jazmin changed into a short embroidered ivory dress, and Anthony into a gold-patterned jacket, just in time for their first dance to “Be My Baby” by The Ronettes — a nostalgic nod to Jazmin’s love of 50s and 60s music.

As the night deepened, the celebration moved indoors where lighting by Artifice Events transformed the space into a moody, modern lounge with beams of blue and purple cutting through the dark. Anthony and Jazmin shared their first dance beneath disco lights and soft haze, surrounded by friends who quickly joined them on the floor. Guests toasted with champagne in crystal coupes, lounged in the historic villa’s textured corners, and read the cocktail napkins printed with quotes from the couple’s old letters — subtle glimpses into their ten-year love story. Every detail, from the music by DJ Nikos Xatziioanidis to the final dance, felt like a reflection of their shared rhythm — intentional, a little unexpected, and completely theirs.

"Every aspect of the day came out beautiful and we felt at ease knowing Phaedra was handling everything. We are so grateful for her help, we highly recommend her to anyone in search of a wedding planner.”

Advice from the couple:

Anthony: To other men, don’t be afraid to formalize opinions and visions for the day. Men shouldn’t take a back seat. It’s for both of you and about both of you.

Jazmin: Get clear on your vision for the day and try not to get caught up on the latest trend or style. You want your day to feel like you when you look back on it and it’ll often be the tiny details that make the difference.

Both: Start dance lessons ASAP.
