A Catalan Wedding Among Stone Walls and Olive Branches

Featured Members

In the hills above the Costa Brava, under the soft glow of the Spanish sun, Stephanie and Michael celebrated their wedding surrounded by friends, florals, and the kind of joy that lingers long after the last glass of champagne is poured. Set against the timeworn arches of a 14th-century Catalan villa, their day played out like a film—intimate, beautifully curated, and deeply personal. From the very first frames captured by videographer Alexis Slowl, it was clear this wasn’t just a celebration. It was a love story brought to life.

Location: Сosta Brava, Catalan, Spain
Style: Timeless, Elegant, Romantic
Time of planning: 1 year
Number of guests: 50
Setting: Villa
Season: Spring

Stephanie and Michael’s story began on an ordinary evening in Tallahassee, Florida. A simple dinner at a Mexican restaurant turned into hours of conversation and laughter—the kind that makes time disappear. Michael, then visiting the city, found more than a potential job opportunity that night. Stephanie had already written her number on the check before he could ask. Within a month, he moved to town. Their first official date took place at The Edison on June 28th, a moment so significant they later inscribed the coordinates on their bracelets.

Years later, under the first light of Zion National Park, Michael proposed with a hidden dress, heels, and a sunrise. From that canyon ridge to the Catalan coast, their love has been about shared adventures and unshakable connection.

Fashion

Stephanie’s bridal look was effortlessly refined. Her A-line gown, understated yet sculptural with matte sheer detailing, let the textures and silhouette speak for themselves. A pair of Italian lace shoes and an equally delicate veil gave the ensemble an elegant balance. A gift from Michael—a pair of pearl earrings—and a third Cartier band brought just the right sparkle.

But it was her second look that held emotional weight. Wearing her mother’s restored wedding dress, Stephanie honored legacy and love in the most timeless way.

Her beauty look, created by Marta Lula, featured a soft, slightly undone low bun with loose face-framing strands and radiant skin, allowing her natural elegance to shine through. The bouquet by Loidy Yarena Montero—a lush yet artfully asymmetric composition—reflected the entire day’s aesthetic: thoughtfully curated, but never stiff.

Michael matched the tone with a double-breasted white dinner jacket from SuitSupply, sharp black trousers, and polished Cole Haan shoes. His only accessory—a Two-Tone Rolex Datejust—kept the look crisp and classic.

A playful nod to their bond: the underwear printed with Stephanie’s face. The whole look struck a playful balance between sharp tailoring and inside-joke charm.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place at the stone ruins of Mas Torroella, where ancient arches framed views of the Mediterranean beyond. Behind the couple, a lush floral installation bloomed with natural elegance—white garden roses, airy grasses, and delicate wildflowers arranged in a way that felt both structured and windswept.

Guests dressed in formal black-tie attire with colorful gowns took their seats under the open sky, awaiting a moment that felt as sacred as it did cinematic.

"The most memorable moment from the day was walking down the aisle and seeing my husband waiting for me. Once we locked eyes, we knew it was exactly where we needed to be."

As vows were exchanged, emotions stirred not just in the couple but across the seated crowd. Alexis Slowl‘s lens captured it all—the gentle tremble in Michael’s voice, the radiance on Stephanie’s face, and that quiet, collective breath the guests took when they locked eyes. It was reverent, honest, and rich with feeling.

Cocktail Hour

After the ceremony, guests moved to the courtyard for a cocktail hour beneath parasol-shaded tables. The couple’s love of their furry friends made its way into the celebration via signature drinks named after their dogs—small details that made everyone smile. The catering by Kemagdalenas leaned local and warm, with rich Spanish flavors and moments like the open paella preparation and croquette stations drawing people in. It wasn’t just about the taste; it was about the togetherness.

From the Cuban cigar station to the Polaroid wall filled with spontaneous smiles, Stephanie and Michael’s day was as much about their guests as it was about themselves.

Moment Just for Them

Before the party truly kicked off, Stephanie and Michael stole a moment away from the noise. In the golden light, they stood beside an old stone wall, alone but not alone. Their photographer, Robert Marcillas, captured it all—some shots with a digital lens, others through the raw grain of analogue film.

The result was timeless portraits that felt like pages from a love story written decades ago. There was laughter, stillness, and a quiet sense that this wasn’t the end of a celebration but the beginning of everything that mattered.

Decor & Reception

The reception unfolded on a stretch of manicured lawn surrounded by tall hedges and fairy lights suspended like constellations. The entire setting came to life thanks to the thoughtful planning and styling by Exclusive Weddings World, who ensured that every element felt intentional. The tables, dressed in soft green linen and framed by wooden chairs, blended into the natural surroundings, while florals added a subtle playfulness with cascading greens, delicate whites, and sculptural blooms.

Fresh fruits and seasonal vegetables—artfully arranged among the florals—added texture and unexpected charm, blurring the line between decoration and abundance. Each detail felt organic to the space, never overpowering, always enhancing.

A two-tiered cake, minimal in its decor and flanked by fresh grapes and florals, served as both centerpiece and sweet finale. Guests raised champagne coupes in a tower pour, and shared cheers under the stars. Later, Stephanie changed into her mother’s dress—now reimagined—and hit the dance floor with her bridesmaids to disco lights and contagious energy.

The couple opened the dance floor to “River” by Leon Bridges, gliding across the courtyard under the first glimmers of dusk. It was soulful and slow, just like their story.

In every sense, this was a wedding that didn’t try too hard—it didn’t need to. The setting, the people, and the details worked together like chapters in a good book. And with storytellers like Alexis Slowl and Robert Marcillas behind the lens, every glance and gesture found its way into memory.

Advice from the couple:

• Don’t stress! We paid for the wedding ourselves so we made sure everything we had was exactly what we wanted. Just remember it’s your day and no one else’s. At the end of the day, people are going to talk trash, so make sure you are intentional about your guest list. Your mom’s work friend, who you’ve never met, is probably not what I mean when I say intentional.
