A Canadian Wedding with Vietnamese Traditions and Golf Club Reception

Linda and Jason’s wedding in Canada is basically a clean mix of three things: a real Catholic ceremony, Vietnamese cultural details, and modern minimal styling. The day started in a pared-back church and continued at a golf club reception. Captured by Revel Photography, the photos feel sharp, natural, and genuinely easy to look at.

Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Style: Modern, Elegant, Black & White
Time of planning: 1 Year
Number of guests: 125
Setting: Church and Golf Club
Season: Spring

Jason and Linda met through a mutual friend back in 2017, nothing dramatic, just one of those connections that actually stuck. By 2024, it led to a sunrise proposal at Halona Beach Cove in Hawaii, and somehow there was already a photographer there catching the whole thing in real time, which sounds staged, but wasn’t, and honestly made the moment even better.

Bride's Morning & Fashion

The wedding took place in Calgary, where Linda’s morning started in a pearl-and-powder palette, everything feeling soft and light. The space, the details, the textures, it all sat in the same calm, muted range without any visual noise.

For her wedding look, Linda chose Martina Liana’s 1510, a fit-and-flare gown with beading and floral detailing that added texture without making the silhouette feel heavy. It was paired with Steve Madden heels, Olive & Piper accessories, and Miss Dior, all of which stayed in the same polished, understated direction and helped the look feel cohesive from head to toe.

The beauty styling followed that same approach. Soft glam makeup by @makeupbymylynn and half-up waves by @rjstylesco kept everything refined and easy, while her bouquet of white and pastel pink blooms added just enough softness without pulling focus. Overall, the bridal look felt very well edited, feminine, current, and completely in sync with the wedding’s overall aesthetic.

Groom’s Fashion

Jason kept things sharp and super clean with a Hugo Boss suit and Louboutin shoes, a combo that brought in structure without making the whole look feel too formal or stiff. It was classic, but in a way that still felt current, polished, and very on point for a wedding that leaned on restraint.

First Look

The couple count their first look as one of the most memorable parts of the day, and it’s easy to see why. By the time it happened, the sun was out, and everything felt especially clear and bright. The conditions had been shifting throughout the day, with the sky changing more than once and even a rainbow making an appearance later.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place at St. Albert the Great Parish in Calgary, the church the couple regularly attend, which immediately gave this part of the day more weight and more meaning. Visually, the space leaned more functional sacred space than traditional cathedral drama: bright, open, and unusually clean in its lines.

That visual restraint also made room for the more personal details to land properly. Both mothers wore traditional Vietnamese áo dài to the ceremony, which brought in a cultural layer that felt specific, lived-in, and natural within the day.

For Linda and Jason, one of the most touching parts of the day was simply seeing all of their loved ones together in that space, and honestly, that makes perfect sense.

Moments Together

For their moments together, Linda and Jason stayed close to the church, using its bright walkways and clean architectural lines for portraits that felt simple but really well framed. Shot by Revel Photography, these images have that sweet spot between editorial and easy.

The black-and-white shots were especially good here, giving the whole gallery a bit more edge and personality. Revel Photography used the church architecture really well throughout, letting the clean lines, bright walkways, and open space do a lot of the work without making anything feel too staged.

At one point, the wedding party joined Linda and Jason, and that shift made the photos even better. The mood instantly felt looser, more alive, and way more emotional, with the kind of movement and energy that keeps a gallery from feeling too polished all the way through.

Reception

At Mickelson Golf Club, the reception kept things clean and super edited with a black-and-white palette that felt crisp without coming off too formal. Bud vases filled with white roses and baby’s breath, floating candles, and a layout that never tried to do too much gave the whole setup a simple, pulled-together look that worked really well with the sharper visual language of the day.

The reception felt fun, full, and genuinely alive, the kind of night where people were fully in it. At one point, after the rain had passed through, there was even a rainbow in the sky, which honestly felt like the day giving the couple one more little extra before the night kept going.

The cake moment followed the same approach as everything else: simple, classic, and not overblown. Linda and Jason went with a single-tier vintage-style cake from Crave, which fit the whole anti-overproduction mindset perfectly, and their first dance to Fly Me to the Moon brought in just the right soft old-school note without shifting the wedding into full retro mode.

With heartfelt speeches from the bridesmaids, groomsmen, and Jason’s father, plus a sweetheart table that gave the couple a little space to themselves in the middle of it all, the reception ended up feeling warm, easy, and really well balanced, polished where it needed to be, and relaxed everywhere else.

Advice from the couple:

Remember to be present. The day goes by so fast and there is so much going on.
