Hidden in the rolling hills of North Georgia, Montaluce Winery transforms into a European dreamscape. This inspiration shoot, featuring two distinct themes, masterfully showcases the versatility of one venue. Inspired by the colors and cultures of Portugal and Spain, this editorial is a vivid showcase of creativity, versatility, and artistry.
Vision Behind the Shoot
Inspired by Portuguese pottery and the stained-glass beauty of Spain’s Sagrada Familia, this shoot embraced the artistry of color and culture. The red and blue designs evoked the vibrancy of Lisbon’s iconic tiles that popped against the winery’s neutral tones.
At the same time, the stained-glass decor added a touch of modern European elegance, specifically the magical glow of the Sagrada Familia. By blending old-world architecture with contemporary styling, the team created a cohesive yet dynamic aesthetic that celebrates the art of storytelling through design.
Location
Montaluce Winery is a hidden gem that seems to belong to the rolling hills of Tuscany. Its timeless European-style architecture, sprawling vineyards, and picturesque surroundings provide a stunning canvas for any celebration. The shoot emphasized how the venue’s versatility allowed vastly different aesthetics to shine. Montaluce truly sets the stage for unforgettable moments, from the romantic glow of a sunset over the vines to the intricate stained-glass arch framing the ceremony.
“The architecture and gardens along with a beautiful winery and rolling hills coupled with exquisite food and wines will have guests feeling like they have escaped to a villa in Europe for a day.”
Kim Hymes, the photographer
Inspiration
The photographer Kim Hymes brought the unique energy of each scene to life, capturing intimate, romantic portraits alongside sweeping wide shots that showcased the venue’s grandeur. The natural surroundings played a key role in shaping the story, with lush vineyard rows and warm stucco walls seamlessly integrated into every frame. This thoughtful approach added depth and timeless elegance to the overall vision.
Fashion
The bridal looks were carefully curated to complement the unique themes of the shoot. One bride wore a structured gown from Kelly’s Closet with embroidery that exuded classic European elegance. Her makeup by Rachel Harris Artistry with bold red lips echoed the rich tones of the red-and-blue decor, while her bouquet of lush greenery, accented with delicate textures and flowing ribbon, added a fresh, natural contrast.
The second bride embraced a softer, modern aesthetic in a sleek gown, paired with understated jewelry by Masina Diamonds. Her bouquet, a striking arrangement of red blooms intertwined with vibrant purple flowers, perfectly mirrored the stained-glass-inspired setup and added a dynamic pop of color to her look. Crafted by 89th & Autumn, each bouquet played a central role in tying the visual stories together, reflecting the richness and vibrancy of the themes.
Decor & Concept
The decor, carefully crafted by Fox & Quinn, was a masterclass in design, mixing textures, colors, and cultural influences. The red and blue tablescape featured delicate porcelain inspired by Portuguese tiles, with deep red blooms arranged in blue-and-white vases from The Prissy Plate Company. Pomegranates scattered along the table added a natural, organic touch that tied everything together.
The dramatic, stained-glass-inspired setup incorporated vibrant colors and textures, highlighted by the custom arch created by Gallo Welding & Fabrication and Jennifer’s Glassworks. The reception tables followed suit, with colorful glass decor and layered floral arrangements that felt almost like a work of modern art. Both designs were elevated by couture linens from Nuage Designs and curated table settings harmonizing with the themes.
The cakes by Gingerspice Bakery became show-stopping centerpieces, each uniquely reflecting the artistic themes of the day. The first cake, wrapped in blue patterns reminiscent of Portuguese tile, was a masterpiece of classic elegance and craftsmanship. The second one, a modern macaron tower with a base adorned in hand-painted stained-glass designs, added a playful yet sophisticated touch to the vibrant Spanish-inspired setup. Together, these cakes perfectly mirrored the spirit of the shoot.
Together, these two visions proved that wedding design doesn’t have to follow a formula. It can — and should — reflect the personality and creativity of the couple.
A Walk Through the Winery
To conclude the shoot, the couples took a walk around Montaluce’s scenic grounds, offering the perfect opportunity to highlight the natural beauty of the venue in its entirety. The photographer, Kim Hymes, focused on capturing the interplay between the couples’ movements and the surrounding landscape. Wide shots emphasized the openness of the area, while close-ups captured the genuine emotions in their expressions and interactions.
These final moments showcased the couples’ connection and the venue’s versatility. From candid moments of laughter to composed, elegant portraits, the walk allowed the photographer to document the day’s essence in a way that felt both personal and picturesque.
