An Elegant Summer Garden Wedding with Colorful Florals

Featured Members:

Meg and Angus’ wedding was a perfect blend of vibrant colors and timeless elegance. Set in the lush gardens of the Currumbin Valley, they crafted a celebration filled with personal touches, from bright florals to meaningful family heirlooms. It was a day that perfectly captured their love story, creating an unforgettable experience for their closest friends and family.

Location: Currumbin Valley, Queensland, Australia
Style: Chic, romance, colorful
Time of planning: 1 year
Number of guests: 58
Setting: Garden
Season: Summer

Nine and a half years ago, fate led Meg from South Africa to Australia, where she was destined to meet the love of her life. After six months, they finally went on their first date, and the connection was undeniable.

Seven years later, Angus proposed at Fingal Heads lookout on a beautiful summer day, complete with a bottle of champagne. That moment marked the beginning of their next chapter and an unforgettable wedding day in Currumbin Valley.

Location & Vision

Meg, a perfectionist with a love for European classic style, planned the entire wedding herself at Sol Gardens, a lush venue nestled in the Currumbin Valley, Australia. She wanted an elegant garden party with a relaxed, natural aesthetic, full of color and character.

Drawing inspiration from Pinterest and her experience in the wedding industry, she focused on incorporating vibrant florals and playful bridesmaids’ dresses, all while maintaining a timeless look.

The result was a stunning floral arrangement crafted by JJ Style that perfectly captured her vision: “bushy, messy, and colorful.”

Wedding Fashion

For her bridal look, Meg wore a stunning For Love & Lemons dress that perfectly reflected her style, paired with classic and comfortable white velvet heels. For the ceremony, she opted for a birdcage veil, feeling drawn to something “a little different” from the traditional floor-length veil she had initially chosen.

Her earrings held special significance, as they were the same ones her mother had worn on her wedding day 30 years ago. Meg also wore two meaningful bracelets—one from her mother and another gifted by Angus, featuring a family heirloom charm from his grandmother, serving as her “something new” and “something old.”

Angus kept things classic with a black suit, bow tie, and a few playful touches, like fun socks with gelato and personalized cufflinks. His friends complement him on his dapper style, sharing laughter and a few playful moments as they celebrated the groom’s big day.

First Look

One of the day’s highlights was the couple’s decision to have a private “first look” at their accommodation, The Villas by Bilinga Beach Abodes. After that, they drove together in a chic vintage car, enjoying a quiet, intimate moment before the whirlwind of the day began. This allowed them to talk about their feelings and what the day meant to them.

The gorgeous moments from the first look and the entire day were beautifully captured by Our Heritage & Co. From candid shots of the couple’s quiet moments to joyful exchanges with loved ones, every photo perfectly preserved the magic of their day. The images feel inmost and authentic, with tender moments like the couple driving together in their old-fashioned car or softly holding hands.

Ceremony

The сelebration took place in a stunning lakeside setting at Sol Gardens, with lush greenery creating a peaceful atmosphere. The ceremony was short, sweet, and intimate, with uplifting music that created a joyful atmosphere. The most unforgettable moment was exchanging vows, filled with overwhelming emotions and love, making it a deeply touching part of the day.

"We kept our ceremony short and sweet, involved our guests as much as we can and had high vibes music playing to keep guests entertained!"

As a delightful surprise, the bridal party unleashed a cascade of confetti from cannons, capturing a magical kiss that had everyone smiling. It was a perfect reflection of the couple’s love and connection with those closest to them.

Cocktail Hour

Following the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests moved into the courtyard garden for a charming cocktail hour. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and joy as guests mingled under the soft glow of string lights. They sipped on delicious, handcrafted cocktails while enjoying gourmet appetizers.

Photographer Our Heritage & Co. beautifully captured these tender moments, from guests laughing and embracing to the newlyweds stealing quiet glances.

The cocktail hour was ideal for transitioning from the emotional ceremony to the evening’s celebrations. It allowed everyone to relax, connect, and toast to the couple’s love while creating cherished memories to look back on for years to come.

Reception

The reception at the greenhouse was homely yet elegant. The U-shaped table was beautifully decorated with colorful flowers, candles, antique French plates, and gold name cards, creating a cozy and romantic atmosphere.

"The reception ended with a really heartfelt toast from both of our dads which made everyone in the room tear up and lead us straight into the first dance, which again, made sure there was not a dry eye in the room!"

Instead of the traditional wedding cake, a playful tower of glazed donuts stole the spotlight, adding a fun and unique twist to the celebration. Heartfelt toasts from both fathers moved everyone to tears, and the night ended with a vivid dance party, thanks to the lively music by Animal Ventura.

Meg and Angus’ wedding was a perfect celebration of love, laughter, and creativity. Every detail reflected the couple’s unique personalities and the deep connections they shared with their guests, making it a day full of unforgettable memories.

Advice from the couple:

Invest in a good photographer. Loren is the best in my opinion! And I would also really recommend getting a content creator! I used Chandla from Socially Wed. She was incredible and it truely was so special to receive all the footage from the day within 24 hours because the day flashes by and you miss so many beautiful parts of it!

Which brings me to my second point—the day goes incredibly fast so take moments to really appreciate it!
