A Blush-Tinted Spring Wedding Full of Romance and Flowers

Set amidst the lush greenery of Toowoomba, famously known as the Garden City of Australia, Maddison and Benjamin’s wedding was a romantic ode to spring with gentle pink accents. Held at the iconic Gabbinbar Homestead, the breathtaking florals by Bee’s Blossoms transformed the venue into a blooming masterpiece, making nature’s beauty the heart of the celebration.

Location: Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia
Style: Bloom-filled, whimsical, romantic
Time of planning: 1 year
Number of guests: 100
Setting: Ceremony – garden, reception – conservatory
Season: Spring

Maddison and Ben’s love story reads like a modern fairytale. They had known each other since their teenage years, but life had different plans until 2017, when Ben finally decided to send Maddison a message on social media — and the rest is history. Sparks flew immediately, and within two months, they were living together. Fast forward to Christmas Day 2022, when Ben proposed in the sweetest way — just the two of them, their son Koa, and a Christmas tree. Simple, intimate, and so unforgettable.

Bridal Morning

The morning of the wedding was a mix of nerves and excitement for Maddison. She wore an ethereal Enzoani ball gown, paired with Christian Dior shoes, and completed her look with Giorgio Armani’s Pivoine Suzhou perfume. Maddison’s veil flowed elegantly, perfectly complementing the spring theme.

Her bouquet by Bee’s Blossoms was a vibrant celebration of spring, featuring a whimsical mix of daisies, soft pink dahlias, yellow spray roses, and delicate blue delphiniums with airy greenery.

“I opted for soft pastels but wasn’t afraid of color, and I was so happy with what we chose because the end result was just stunning,” shared the bride.

Groom's Fashion

Benjamin began his morning with his son, Koa, whose charming outfit was as stylish as his father’s.

The groom chose a black suit by Peter Jackson, paired with polished RM Williams shoes and a black bow tie for a classic look. His boutonniere, thoughtfully designed to reflect the floral theme of the day, added a personal and cohesive touch to his ensemble.

Ceremony

The ceremony was held under a majestic fig tree on the Governor’s Lawn, where the couple exchanged heartfelt vows and officially signed their marriage certificate. The breathtaking floral arrangements by Bee’s Blossoms transformed the space into an ethereal spring garden. Single-stem delphiniums lined the aisle, while a lush floral arch created a stunning backdrop. “All the guests were amazed at the venue — a heritage-listed property established in the 1800s,” shared Maddison.

The bride’s wish to incorporate delicate pink tones into the wedding was beautifully reflected in the bridal party’s attire. Bridesmaids wore elegant pastel pink dresses, holding petite bouquets to match. Meanwhile, the groomsmen balanced the romantic aesthetic with timeless black suits, creating a harmonious mix of classic and whimsical styles.

"Our goal was to make the florals feel like part of a natural spring garden, adding depth to the designs with clusters of blooms. We incorporated fresh moss throughout the arrangements to enhance the whimsical feel, giving the impression that the flowers had grown there organically."

A heartwarming moment stole the ceremony when little Koa interrupted the process to present flower petals to his mother, declaring her beauty for all to hear. This adorable gesture left everyone, including the couple, overwhelmed with emotion.

Cocktail Hour

After the ceremony, guests were treated to bespoke cocktails and light bites in the garden as the sun set. The relaxed ambiance allowed everyone to mingle and enjoy the serene beauty of the surroundings. The champagne tower, replacing a traditional wedding cake, became an instant hit, adding a playful yet elegant twist to the evening.

Private Moment

Meanwhile, guests enjoyed cocktail hour as Maddison and Ben took a few minutes alone to soak in the joy of the day. Walking hand in hand through Gabbinbar’s picturesque gardens, they shared thoughts and feelings, which photographer Wallflower Weddings beautifully captured. From tender moments with their son to romantic shots inside a vintage car, the images became timeless memories the couple will cherish forever.

"The day was just so so so perfect!"

Decor & Flowers

Bee’s Blossoms and Mon Cherie brought Maddison’s vision of a romantic, pastel-hued setting to life. Each table was decorated with peculiar flowers, perfectly arranged in handcrafted Oh Flora vases. Pale pink candles added a soft glow, while gold accents and name cards in elegant calligraphy provided a touch of sophistication.

"The bride wanted the bridal table to be a standout feature, so we repurposed the garden meadows from the ceremony and added a surprise installation of freestanding floral arches around the bridal table. This was a surprise for the guests, as the arch was made bespokely for the reception space."

Reception

The reception in Gabbinbar’s Conservatory was filled with joy, heartfelt moments, and so much love. Maddison and Ben’s first dance to “Can I Call You Rose” by Thee Sacred Souls was tender and emotional, setting the perfect tone for the night. Guests toasted the couple with sincere speeches and shared their warmest wishes.

A polaroid station added a playful touch, allowing everyone to capture personal keepsakes for couple to cherish. Maddison’s outfit change into a stunning short dress brought a lively energy to the evening, and the party continued with drinks, music, and endless celebrations.

"We absolutely recommend focusing on 1-2 areas of impact, as the designs can be repurposed effectively to create 'moments' throughout the day, rather than trying to spread the budget too thin."

Advice from the couple:

• The day goes by so quickly so definitely make time to spend even just 10 minutes alone with your new husband/wife. It can be quite overwhelming but honestly just go with the flow as well.
