A Swan Fairytale was conceived through a close collaboration between Colibri Films and photographer Conta-Me Como Foi and Bouquet De Liz, with a shared vision to create something poetic, cinematic, and emotionally immersive. Inspired by the symbolic grace of swans, representing purity, connection, and lifelong partnership, the editorial focuses on quiet moments, delicate gestures, and soft, natural light to express intimacy in a subtle, refined way. Blending film and photography, the story unfolds as a cohesive narrative that captures love not as an idea but as something lived and deeply felt, leaving a lasting sense of calm, connection, and understated beauty.
This editorial draws inspiration from the swan as a symbol of grace and transformation, echoing the cinematic world of Swan Lake. Set among misty gardens and Sintra’s natural landscapes, the story unfolds in an ethereal, almost dreamlike atmosphere, where the mystique of the location enhances a sense of quiet beauty and movement. Colibri Films translated this vision into a soft, cinematic narrative, capturing the emotion and fluidity of each moment. Their approach adds depth to the story, bringing a sense of movement and atmosphere that complements the photos perfectly.
Fashion
The bridal look plays with contrast and transformation, beginning with structure, a precise bodice, defined waist, and sculptural volumes that shape the silhouette with a classical clarity. This shifts into something lighter and more fluid, a short, almost ethereal dress inspired by ballet, paired with a Jackie hat that introduces movement and attitude. Jewelry appears as subtle points of light, tying both looks together into a single, cohesive story of elegance and quiet evolution.
As Makeup Artist Tom Perdigão explains, the beauty direction follows the same balance of structure and softness. Hair is styled into a low, sculptural bun with a polished finish, reflecting a modern, architectural approach to bridal styling. Makeup remains fresh and luminous, enhancing natural features with soft definition and refined tones, creating a look that feels effortless, elevated, and timeless.
The groom’s look by Miguel Vieira fit seamlessly into the overall vision, bringing a sharp, modern edge to the story. Clean tailoring and a strong silhouette kept it polished without feeling overly formal, while the minimal styling added a sense of ease. It felt aligned with the mood of the editorial, confident, refined, and quietly expressive.
An Ethereal Ceremony in White
Camélia Gardens in Sintra set the tone for the entire editorial, chosen for its timeless elegance and natural connection to the landscape. The historic mansion and surrounding gardens offered a cinematic scene, with soft light and layered textures that created a calm, refined atmosphere throughout the shoot.
The ceremony concept leaned into something more ethereal, where paper elements became central, shaped into sculptural forms and paired with fluid fabrics. White lilies defined the floral direction, chosen for both their symbolism and presence. Representing purity, renewal, and new beginnings, they added a quiet sophistication to the setting, echoing the grace and symbolism of the swan while enhancing the overall sense of softness and intention.
A Table in Soft Layers
Bouquet de Liz created the full decorative concept, shaping a setting that felt calm, minimal, and thoughtfully put together. The table was kept almost entirely in white, with soft linen creating a clean, continuous base, while aged silver pieces added contrast and a subtle sense of depth. The overall look felt light and layered, where simple materials came together in a way that felt refined, natural, and quietly atmospheric.
The Cake as a Statement
For this editorial, Poetry Food, led by cake artist Francisca Moreira, explored one of the key wedding cake trends for 2026/2027, the return of scale and classic form, reimagined through height. Inspired by Lambeth piping and finished with a recurring swan motif, the design carried a sense of quiet drama, drawing from the opulence of 19th-century English celebrations while still feeling relevant and refined.
Alongside this, content creator In White approached the day with a strong editorial perspective, blending storytelling with a behind-the-scenes lens. Her work captured not just the final visuals but also the process itself, the team’s energy, the preparation, and the moments in between, adding another layer to the narrative.
One of the most unexpected highlights came through the use of projections, approached as an open experiment, “without fixed expectations, but with a clear intention to create something distinctive.” In the end, the projections became one of the strongest elements of the editorial, subtly tying the narrative together and elevating the overall concept.
