Ethereal Romance Meets Textural Modernity

Alexandra Clement from Blush + Bowties clearly understands the importance of staying fulfilled and expressing her creative side. She has taken the initiative to organize editorial shoots to fulfill her creative aspirations and contribute to the wedding and event planning industry. Editorial shoots are a great way to express creativity and collaborate with professionals in the industry. It’s even more special when you can work with people you’ve known for a long time, like the photographer Scarlet O’Neill, whom she’s known since university. This kind of collaboration allows for creative expression and strengthens professional relationships. It’s a rewarding and bonding experience for everyone involved.

When conceptualizing this shoot, Alexandra began with the vision of ethereal romance meets textural modernity. This styled shoot celebrates the sleekness of the ancient form and explores a textural neutral-on-neutral aesthetic.

She always looks to the environment for inspiration and designed this shoot to celebrate Archive Studios, the photo studio, and the event space where the shoot took place. When dreaming up the vision, she played into the modern simplicity of Archive Studios. She nodded to old-world European characters, as well as subtle black accents featured in the design of Archive Studios.

Blush + Bowties began their creative journey with a single inspiration source: the elegant travertine stone. They expertly incorporated this inspiration into various elements of their event design. The use of travertine is evident in the hand-chiseled table numbers, textured stone slabs on the tablescape, and plinths for the ceremony. This choice draws from the classic stone aesthetic seen in ancient Roman monuments, adding a timeless and sophisticated touch to the event.

Alexandra Clement maintained a consistent theme of texture throughout the design. The stone place cards, chargers, and menus, crafted by Pink Peony Press, all feature beautiful handcrafted textures. She introduced soft, flowing fabrics like silk napkins, a runner, and the ceremony drape to balance this textural approach. Using Simply Beautiful Decors cashmere velvet linen as the foundation for the tablescape adds a touch of depth and sophistication to the overall look. This choice brings a sense of warmth and grounding to the design, ensuring it’s not too austere.

The fluted glassware from Ichendorf Milano and pillar candles from Bare and Co. draw inspiration from the fluted walls featured in Archive Studios. This detail ties the entire design together and creates a cohesive and visually appealing aesthetic for the event. Blush & Bowties has paid meticulous attention to detail, combining different textures and elements to create a harmonious and inviting atmosphere for their event.

Blush + Bowties, along with Janna from Billie Flower Co., had a specific vision for the floral design for this editorial shoot. They aimed to keep the flowers neutral and textural, creating a unique and visually appealing atmosphere. Janna, with her expertise in floral design, combined lush roses with frothy cream foliage to add a sense of richness to the arrangements. To provide structure and height, she incorporated anthurium, which is a personal favorite flower for its distinct appearance.

Regarding the ceremony design, they wanted to break away from the traditional floral arches and explore a different approach. This led them to utilize varying layers of plinths, which provided an opportunity to feature the travertine material and allowed them to play with different levels and unique vessels for the floral arrangements.

Alexandra preferred displaying cakes on pedestals rather than the traditional cake table. In this shoot, they took the opportunity to utilize unique display pedestals to showcase the cakes.

Olivia Yang, the cake designer, created two stone-inspired cakes adorned with handmade sugar flowers, adding an extra layer of artistry and elegance to the overall design. Combining these design elements, from the choice of neutral and textural flowers to the innovative use of plinths and unique cake displays, showcases a high level of creativity and attention to detail in this event planning and design project.

Choosing the modern silhouette for the bridal gown was straightforward in planning this event. The Toronto bridal gown boutique, Loversland played a significant role by generously lending the stunning Onda Dress from the designer Newhite. This dress, a strapless soft liquid satin fit-and-flare gown with a structured half-bow draping into a side slit, perfectly embodied the desired bridal aesthetic. Its chic and minimalist design added an elegant touch to the overall look. To infuse a bit of playfulness and romance into the bridal ensemble, Loversland also provided a polka dot veil.

This veil was the ideal accessory, balancing the modern and minimalist gown with a touch of whimsy and a hint of vintage charm. Combining the Onda Dress and the polka dot veil created a harmonious blend of contemporary and classic elements, making the bride’s look unique and timeless.

The thoughtful selection of the gown and veil by Loversland added an extra layer of sophistication and style to the event’s overall design, emphasizing the importance of well-chosen bridal attire in creating a memorable and visually stunning wedding atmosphere.

Eryn Shannon, the talented hair and makeup artist, expertly highlighted Kai’s natural freckles and auburn hair, enhancing her unique beauty for the special day. This collaboration exemplifies the crucial role that professional artists play in creating a memorable bridal look.

Scarlet O’Neill is a highly skilled photographer renowned for her ability to capture meaningful moments and weave compelling stories through her lens. Her contribution to this editorial shoot was invaluable, as she brought a distinct and sensual style to the project, elevating the visual narrative and enhancing its overall impact. Her talent for photography played a pivotal role in making this editorial truly remarkable and engaging.

Scarlet O’Neill’s sensual style, beautifully accentuating the natural beauty of the model, the meticulously designed set, and the exquisite floral arrangements, came together to craft a visually stunning editorial that tells a perfect story.
