Once upon a time, Jessie and Jack met while camping beneath the vast, star-filled sky. Their connection sparked amid nature’s tranquility, and this love story inspired LZ Events to design a beautiful editorial in the heart of St. Louis, Missouri. It was a crisp fall day in the city known for its rich history and vibrant culture. The iconic St. Louis Art Museum, nestled in the serene Forest Park, became the setting for their dream wedding shoot. With its roots dating back to 1879 and its prominence since the 1904 World’s Fair, the museum was a place where history and art converged, much like Jessie and Jack’s relationship.
“Being able to shoot in the art museum was a gift in itself. But Art Hill is a top choice for wedding couples and my favorite location in St. Louis,” says Lauren, the Founder of LZ Event Co. and the creative mind behind the editorial.
Our mission is to bring a nuanced design that the Midwest has yet to see. We seek inspiration through adventure & art, travel & architecture, fashion & romance. Together, we aspired to create a space where wedding design becomes its own art form.
Lauren Zigman Eastman, the Founder and Creative Director of LZ Event Co.
The bridal beauty look was selected to exude a 90s supermodel vibe. The attractive blowout and voluminous hair, mixed with a sexy updo, added a touch of glamour, perfectly aligning with the editorial’s chic aesthetic.
Lauren, the planner, shares, “Modern dresses that had a traditional element were my main inspiration. I wanted to find styles that are similar in feel that are perfect for the everyday midwestern bride.” The showstopper dress was directly from the Jenny Yoo Couture Spring 2024 line. The Lafayette dress was truly stunning. It was crafted from their textured crinkle habotai fabric and featured a fitted bodice with a sculpted cowl neckline. The asymmetrical drop waist led to a full, gathered skirt with covered buttons down to the hem. The dress was elegant and modern and flowed beautifully with every move.
The stunning photos were taken by Maggie Adams. She captured Jessie in mid-motion, with her dress flowing beautifully to showcase its texture and movement. The backdrop of the museum’s majestic columns against a stark black canvas created a striking visual contrast. Combining classic architecture with modern, fluid motion emphasized the editorial’s theme of blending old with new.
Jessie and Jack shared an intimate moments between art pieces, their love reflected in the tranquil waters and vibrant blooms of the painting behind them. The rich colors and textures of Monet’s “Water Lilies” painting add depth and emotion to the photographs. The piece provided a lush, almost otherworldly backdrop, making each image feel like a moment suspended in time.
In a delightful and spontaneous moment, the couple were captured running through the museum’s galleries. These candid shots revealed the couple’s playful spirit and deep connection. The black-and-white photography enhanced the timelessness of these moments, highlighting the couple’s joy and the calm setting.
The other two gowns came from the incredible Chosen by Kyha line, adding to the editorial’s artistic theme. Both the Davis and the Salacea dress brought a timeless elegance to the shoot, reminiscent of Grecian statues in the museum.
The Davis dress had sleek lines and a sophisticated design, exuding an effortlessly chic vibe. Its classic yet modern silhouette highlighted Jessie’s natural grace, making her look like a living statue. The dress’s refined details and impeccable tailoring added a touch of contemporary sophistication.
Similarly, the Salacea dress echoed the elegance of ancient artistry. Its flowing fabric and delicate drapery were reminiscent of classical sculptures, blending history with modern fashion. Jessie’s movements in this dress were captured beautifully, portraying her as an ethereal figure in the museum’s grand halls.
Lauren envisioned a playful twist on a green and pink color scheme for the reception setting. She chose shades of green and darker pinks to create a bold yet harmonious palette. The contrasting colors added depth and vibrancy to the setting, making each element stand out while feeling cohesive. Lauren’s design centerpiece was the flowers, chosen for their colors, unique textures and shapes. Green velvet napkins tied in sophisticated knots and dark green plates contrast beautifully with the white menus adorned with elegant calligraphy.
Lauren’s vision was to create a modern, organic look inside the historical museum, mixing old with the new and showcasing beauty in many different art forms, romance, texture, and color. She carefully selected four words to define the editorial, which the team focused on throughout the day: Bespoke, Intimate, Organic, and Nuanced.
Bespoke: Every detail was meticulously curated, from the bridal moments to the stationery, which reflected their favorite art pieces in the museum.
Intimate: One long table adorned with delicate florals and warm candlelight created an atmosphere of togetherness. It showcased the joy and intimacy of Jessie and Jack’s union, fostering a sense of belonging and connection.
Organic: The setting’s natural beauty was enhanced by thoughtful decor. Fall fruits accented the centerpieces, and the overall design emphasized organic elements.
Nuanced: This editorial offered a fresh perspective on modern weddings, blending nature, architecture, and art into a harmonious celebration. The historic museum provided a stunning contrast to the contemporary details, creating a visual narrative that was both timeless and unique.
