A Dramatic Shoot in Puglia Infused with Color, Texture, and Statement Florals

Set in the heart of Puglia, this editorial photoshoot at Masseria Angiulli Piccolo captures the essence of modern elegance intertwined with timeless Mediterranean charm. With sprawling gardens, historic stone architecture, and sweeping views, this masseria offers a backdrop that’s both bold and serene. Here, the creative team at Babel Bloom and Rotondo Catering brought their vision to life with a unique twist on the classic Puglian aesthetic, infusing it with vibrant color and structural elements.

The Vision Behind the Shoot

For this shoot, the team embraced a more structural and bold approach, diverging from the soft, garden-style weddings typical of Puglia. Inspired by the high ceilings and stone walls of the masseria, the team designed the ceremony on a terrace with panoramic views, while the reception took place in an elegant, vaulted saloon.

The concept revolved around a statement element—a handmade bow, representing the strength and unity of marriage. This bow motif appeared throughout, from the table decor to the stationery, symbolizing a figurative bond that’s both fluid and strong.

"We always create emotively and for the photoshoot we wanted to put our vision without any restrictions."

Florist’s Artistry

They blended hot pinks, dark reds, greens, and earthy tones to create arrangements that felt organic yet bold. For the ceremony, the florals took on a more ethereal palette—greens, whites, and beiges were chosen to harmonize with the landscape.

But the reception florals told a different story: dramatic shapes and vivid colors brought a striking contrast to the neutral hues of the masseria’s interiors. Anthuriums, scabiosas, hydrangeas, and amaranthus added texture and vibrancy, transforming the space into a living work of art.

"The flowers were a big part of all the concepts and mood.”

The Bride’s Look

The bride’s modern, edgy look was achieved with a collaboration with Ritual Unions, known for their fierce designs. She wore a minimalist, satin gown with a high slit, accentuating her elegance and strength. For the ceremony, her makeup and hair were kept delicate, with soft waves and a natural palette, crafted by Elio Vittore and Anna Paola Fiore.

"We wanted our bride to look fierce. More delicate for the ceremony and more bold for the reception and party.”

Groom's Look

In a sharp, classic black tuxedo, the groom’s attire embodied sophistication. With clean lines and a sleek bowtie, he was the embodiment of timeless elegance amidst the vibrant setting. His boutonniere featured a blend of callas and orchids, designed to complement the bride’s bouquet while maintaining a unique style. The small details in his boutonniere—dark red and white blooms—added just the right touch of color, tying his look seamlessly into the overall aesthetic.

Bold Decor and Florals

The decor was an exercise in texture and contrast. The table settings, created by Claydes Ceramic with hand-crafted pieces, were inspired by the fluidity of the bow motif. “We wanted the ceramics to have the perfect measures, shapes, and finishes,” explains Babel Bloom, noting that the pieces were custom-made in Grottaglie, a town renowned for its ceramics.

Layered fabric tablecloths, cutlery from Studio GMC, and lighting by Gio Lighting set the stage for the floral arrangements, which stole the show. The tablescapes featured nude linens, soft draping, and candles interspersed with colorful florals in striking shapes. These elements were arranged in a way that felt organic yet deliberate, creating an inviting and immersive atmosphere.

Stationery Details

The stationery by Stationery Roma also reflected the fluid bow motif. Each menu was framed elegantly, carrying a guest’s name directly on it—“because we don’t love to see the names on a paper ‘lost’ on the table,” shared the designer.

Old pink and beige hues tied the stationery to the broader color palette, while soft, sans-serif typography added a modern edge. Floral illustrations taken from the moodboard were incorporated into the designs, creating a seamless flow between the stationery and the floral arrangements.

Private Walk

As the evening came, the bride’s look intensified, with bolder makeup and a dramatic updo, perfectly mirroring the shoot’s structural theme. The bouquet she carried was an artistic mix of white callas, anthuriums, and cascading amaranthus, echoing the fluidity seen throughout the shoot.

Moments of Celebration

The reception took place in a grand, vaulted saloon within masseria, where the evening began with a celebratory champagne tower. As the couple poured the first glasses, their laughter and connection set the joyful tone for the night.

"We also placed greater emphasis on the buffet table because both the food and the decor details set the mood.”

A stunning table displayed an array of food and sweets, arranged with thoughtful details that complemented the aesthetic. Layered linens, rustic cheeses, fresh fruits, and pyramid sweets created a beautiful yet inviting spread, showcasing the beauty of Italian culinary traditions.

The cake-cutting moment featured a minimalistic cake adorned with ribbon details, resting on a table decorated with soft linens and floral touches. This elegant cake, crafted to embody the essence of the photoshoot, was the perfect symbol of modern love and timeless beauty.

Artful Expression

This styled shoot beautifully showcases the possibilities that arise when tradition meets bold design. With Babel Bloom’s artistry, Rotondo Catering’s exquisite planning, and the creative vision of the entire vendor team, this editorial inspires couples to embrace both the timeless and the daring for their special day. Each element, from the bride’s fierce look by Ritual Unions to the custom ceramics by Claydes Ceramic, was thoughtfully curated to tell a story of unity, strength, and elegance.
