Alyce in Flourland is, at its heart, about storytelling. She creates thoughtful, whimsical, heirloom desserts unique to each couple. While she does consider elements like their wedding colors & flowers, what makes these cakes so precious and bespoke is the reflection of the couple’s story in the design choices. Alyce makes everything from scratch and offers a custom service, so couples can receive what they envision for their special day.

From moments of their relationship to aspects of their personality to something as simple as flavors from their childhood, each dessert she creates is intended to celebrate two humans falling in love. Come down the rabbit hole with Alyce in Flourland on some of her recent personalized favorites.

A Cake for a Fisherman and a Singer

Rather than the typical first dance, Erin sang blues to her lovey and guests. We sourced a unique cake topper that celebrated the couple on their wedding day and honored their individual talents.

Erin and Mike tied the knot at the enchanting Willowbrook Amphitheater near Morrison. For their special day, they sought a cake that would harmonize with the red rock ambiance of the theater and embrace the essence of late summer. Alyce created their dream cake featuring rich buttercream floral motifs.

The top tier was a delightful combination of Erin’s favorite flavors: a luscious chocolate raspberry cake with espresso buttercream and raspberry filling. As for Mike, the bottom tier catered to his taste with a delectable Reese’s inspired cake filled with chocolate buttercream and peanut butter goodness. It was a sweet celebration that perfectly captured their unique personalities and love for each other.

Amber & Shawn’s cake echoed the modern, sleek, classic elegance of the couple’s wedding set in downtown Denver at Mile High Station. Alyce tempered the modernity of the cake with a color palette of soft pink modeling chocolate and a scattering of rose petals for romance. Beneath the glamorous design of the cake lay four classic & beloved flavors for each tier: chocolate, vanilla bean, red velvet, and champagne.

“The Princess Bride” & Steampunk

Alyce’s creativity and exceptional skills created a unique creation that perfectly blended the bride’s love for “The Princess Bride” and the groom’s passion for Steampunk. Michelle & Jeff’s wedding cake was a masterpiece, visually adorned with chocolate and sugar gears, exuding mechanical elegance, while graceful tarnished red roses cascaded down the tiers.

Alyce shares: “I used a stencil to hand-paint gears with edible gold paint, then embellished further with carefully crafted 3D gears made of chocolate.”

Underneath the fresh vanilla bean frosting lay three distinct layers. A wonderfully smooth almond alamorado cake with a fresh fruit strawberry filling made up the base layer. The middle of the cake was a light & fresh lemon cake with custard filling, perfect for the midsummer weather. The cake was topped with a layer of chocolate & vanilla swirl with toffee butterscotch filling.

Barbiecore Grunge

Gabrielle & Kaelen’s wedding cake was a delightful collision of Barbiecore and grunge, Alyce in Flourland expertly crafted. She skillfully simulated melting candle wax, seamlessly blending Barbie’s pink and feminine essence. The cake itself was a delightful combination of flavors, featuring a pink champagne cake with fresh strawberry filling in one tier and almond mascarpone filling in the other, all lovingly covered with a luscious vanilla bean buttercream.

Colors & Florals

Allow the vibrant colors and floral elements of the rainbow disco theme to take center stage, showcasing the cake’s main visual aesthetic. The striking feature of the cake was the exquisite poppy-orange piped vanilla bean buttercream adorned with beautifully arranged flowers in the couple’s chosen wedding colors. Beneath this captivating buttercream exterior, a delectable surprise awaited: a delicious chocolate vanilla swirl cake awaited to delight the guests’ taste buds.

A Cake for a Florist

Alyce crafted an elegant, understated cake for Sheilan. Sheilan is a florist. All white with a fondant flower embellishment winding up each tier — the intent was for the cake to integrate seamlessly with the florals around it while still making a delicate statement. Tier one was a lavender honey cake with chocolate ganache filling and vanilla bean buttercream. In contrast, tiers two and three were carrot cakes with toasted pecans and brown butter buttercream.

80’s Disco Cake

Katie & Zach’s wedding cake embraced an 80’s disco theme to match their groovy and adventurous personalities. Instead of a traditional multi-tiered cake, they chose a more free-spirited approach. They chose a small chocolate cake with espresso buttercream adorned with warm summer colors and disco balls. Alongside it, they had an array of cakesicles in various flavors like chocolate with espresso icing, peanut butter with espresso icing, lavender with lavender icing, lemon, strawberry, and cookies & cream. It was a delicious and funky celebration of their love!

The story of Alyce in Flourland cake

The cake seemed to weave its own whimsical tale. Layers of double chocolate cake, generously filled with Nutella, fresh sliced strawberries, and strawberry vanilla buttercream, created a delectable canvas. The organic buttercream layers were lovingly adorned in a soft, spring sky blue, adding a touch of enchantment to its appearance.

Inspired by the fairytale charm of Alyce in Flourland’s business name—a playful nod to Alice in Wonderland—wafer paper butterflies and delicate blossoms adorned the cake, each intricately hand-painted by the skilled baker herself. This cake was a manifestation of wishes and fairy tales, crafted with passion and love from the depths of her heart, genuinely showcasing her devotion to her craft.
