At WedVibes, we’re always drawn to the stories behind the aesthetics—the vision boards, voice notes, and late-night Pinterest scrolls that quietly shape iconic wedding moments. So, we did what we do best: reached out to real brides who are planning weddings their way. From spontaneous proposals to guest lists made on Google Docs, these brides are rewriting the rules and curating celebrations that feel less like tradition and more like self-expression.
In this series, they open up about the moodboards they can’t stop tweaking, the TikTok trends they’re into, and the vendors who just get it. Expect real love stories, real planning highs (and lows), and plenty of inspiration for your own “main character” moment.
Meet The Couple
Alina and Brendan live in NYC. She is a personal stylist and content creator, and he works at a startup—a good mix of creative energy and adult stability. They kitesurf, ski, love a good house music party, and are always planning the next trip.
How did you meet?
My biggest flex: we met offline, at a bar. I was out on a girls’ night in New York with my friend. No apps, no sliding into DMs, no algorithm involved. Just a random New York night, good timing, and a conversation that actually went somewhere. Very rare these days—so we’re keeping that one forever.
The Proposal
We were in Tuscany, and I was actually filming a trend reel with him. He kept asking to retake it—once, twice, three times—which was already suspicious, because he never cares that much. On the third take, instead of doing the trend, he proposed. No crowd, no big production—just us, a camera rolling, and me realizing the retakes were not about the lighting. It was very intimate and very on-brand for us.
The Wedding Vision
1. When and where is your wedding taking place?
September 2026, in Tuscany, Italy.
2. Describe your wedding in 3 words.
Intentional. Timeless. Emotional.
3. What are three non-negotiable elements for your big day?
- A setting that feels organic and not over-decorated
- Fashion that feels intentional and personal (not traditional for tradition’s sake
- A guest experience that feels warm, intimate, and unforgettable
4. Do you have a moodboard or a reference image you keep going back to?
I do—vintage textures, soft neutrals with contrast, nature doing most of the work. Less about copying references, more about direction.
Planning Process
1. What’s been the highlight of your planning process so far?
Designing the vision from the start—and fully embracing my bridal era without pretending I’m “chill” about it. I started making wedding content and realized I love it way more than I expected. At this point, the bridal era has slightly taken over my personality…and honestly, I’m fine with that.
2. What’s surprised you most about wedding planning?
How hard it is to find and book a venue a full year in advance. The stress was very real.
3. Is there an Instagram account, TikTok trend, or aesthetic you’re secretly loving right now?
Old-world European weddings, imperfect florals, strict dress codes, vintage details, and anything that feels anti-overproduced.
4. What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting their planning journey?
Not every detail needs to be meaningful, but the ones that are really should be. Choose where to care deeply.
