At WedVibes, we’re always drawn to the stories behind the aesthetics—the vision boards, voice notes, and late-night Pinterest scrolls that quietly shape iconic wedding moments. So, we did what we do best: reached out to real brides who are planning weddings their way. From spontaneous proposals to guest lists made on Google Docs, these brides are rewriting the rules and curating celebrations that feel less like tradition and more like self-expression.
In this series, they open up about the moodboards they can’t stop tweaking, the TikTok trends they’re into, and the vendors who just get it. Expect real love stories, real planning highs (and lows), and plenty of inspiration for your own “main character” moment.
Meet The Couple
Albina is a creative director of a YouTube channel “Privileged Few”, and her fiancé is a tech genius and “the most romantic man alive.” “The channel is dedicated to exposing rich kids like myself with the goal of spreading the message, ‘you are not behind; it’s just others like me had a head start,” adds the bride.
They work out every morning together; Albina recently made him watch her favorite anime “Naruto”, and they’re big philosophy fans.
How did you meet?
My fiancé and I met at the university, where we both majored in computer science. After we graduated, I stayed in the US to work in an IT company, while he pursued his passion for startups abroad. 5 years post-graduation, I flew to Dubai to interview the first female Emirati racing driver for my YT channel, and my fiancé invited me to catch up. After 2 dirty martinis at the jazz club, I kissed him. Three months later, he proposed.
The Proposal
I knew my fiancé would propose to me because he had earlier asked my father for permission, but I did not know the exact day. I let him know ahead that I wanted to make sure we didn’t have pictures from this event because I didn’t want to see how it “looked from the side”. I wanted to capture the memory from my POV, and I do not regret this decision for a second. Even though I took cute pictures right after the proposal.
As he was preparing to ask me to marry him, I was delivering a full TED Talk on the Menendez brothers and the structural failures of the American justice system. As he stood on one knee and began his speech, I sat on my knees as well and started saying “of course!” before he even asked anything. 5 minutes later, I looked at the ring and was too stunned to speak. I loved it so much and Facetimed my family right away.
The Wedding Vision
1. When and where is your wedding taking place?
April 24-26th, South of France.
2. Describe your wedding in 3 words.
Witches and Renaissance.
3. What are three non-negotiable elements for your big day?
First look while walking down the aisle – my fiancé can’t see me before the ceremony.
No “outshine the bride” agenda! I want all my guests to treat this event like it’s Met Gala.
I want all my guests to leave the wedding knowing they made new friends.
Planning Process
1. What’s been the highlight of your planning process so far?
My dad getting me a custom-made dress from Elie Saab. Very new-money behavior from our end, but I highkey love it and feel very excited about wearing it!
2. What’s surprised you most about wedding planning?
What a bonding experience it is! I love how involved my family is – I love going over small details with my 2 older sisters and parents, hearing their opinions and suggestions. All of this feels a bit bittersweet because in some way it feels like a goodbye routine before leaving one family to create your own.
3. What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting their planning journey?
Do not overthink it and remember that the goal of the wedding is to have a good time.
