‘I’m Still on Cloud Nine’: Wedding Planner Jove Meyer Shares the Story Behind His Proposal

We enjoy witnessing love in various forms – from the stories of our friends and the couples featured on our blog to the celebrities’ affairs. But there is something special and touching about when this love extends to wedding vendors, the magicians who create wonders for all those we’ve mentioned earlier. Amid the diverse weddings they contribute to, it’s heartening to pause, experiencing the same force of love and excitement, immersing ourselves in the world of preparing for celebrations.

There was recent news about the engagement of Jove Meyer, the owner and creative director of Jove Meyer, a NYC-based visionary of joy and a prominent wedding planner in the US. After 15 years of crafting vibrant and unique celebrations of love inspired by couples embracing their distinctiveness, it’s his turn! We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the happy couple, and here are a few more details about their Palm Springs proposal.

Love Story

Jove Meyer and his fiancé Kyle Torrence, personal assistant, met 3.5 years ago on Tinder at the height of COVID-19. Kyle was quarantining with his friends in Connecticut, and Jove was renovating his home on Fire Island. “After a few weeks of chatting, he took the ferry to meet me and never left,” Jove shares.

The Proposal

The guys’ families were planning to meet for the very first time over Christmas in Palm Springs, so Kyle planned a surprise proposal to happen over that time. His friend Ali was in Australia and helped with the ring, as the designer Seb Brown is based there. He had helped her fiancé with her ring, which was a full-circle moment.

“I knew I wanted to get Jove a ring from Seb Brown because he designs rings that are bold, colorful, and one of a kind, just like my fiancé,” Kyle says.

“Seb said he was saving this ring for a special couple, and this felt like the right fit. I immediately knew the ring was perfect and said YES right away. The ring has 9 different diamonds, including white, champagne, and yellow, with different shapes and a star in the center. Jove loves the color yellow, and he is the star of my life, so this was it.”

“The best day of my life was him saying “Yes” and loving the ring I chose for him,” Kyle shares.

After Jove’s sincere ‘I Do,’ a sweet vibrance filled the air. Their families and some close friends were there to share this cherished moment, savoring the celebration!

On this joyful day, Jove wore Issey Miyake, and Kyle wore a mix of designers, including Prada, Acne Studios, and Theory.

Kyle booked out Korakia Pensione for the proposal and brunch that followed; it was suggested to him by Jove’s friend, a fellow event planner Jesse Tombs. “He worked with La Tige Studios on the flowers and local rental companies to transform a bedroom into a stylish celebratory brunch! I was totally surprised; he also had my bestie fly down, and his two friends flew down as well!” Jove recalls.

From Jove: “Kyle nailed it! This day was truly magical and unforgettable! And it was such a blur. I am so grateful for these photos by my dear friend Amber Gress, who was in on the surprise and helped plan with my fiancé!”
