"My name is Sam, founder, lead creative, photographer and videographer at Your Alternative Wedding. I'm a UK and Europe-based fashion and wedding photographer, working solo and alongside my fantastic team of photographers and filmmakers. We cater to everything from intimate destination weddings to large, multi-day celebrations around the world."
Sam's background is in fashion, editorial storytelling, and celebrity portraiture — working with brands like Barbour and shooting for publications including L'Officiel, alongside internationally recognised actors, athletes, and personalities. That same fashion eye and technical experience carries directly into his wedding work, across every setting and every kind of light, from natural to high-level flash.
Destination weddings have become a significant part of his work. Recent highlights include multi-day celebrations in Sri Lanka and venues across the South of France, with upcoming projects in Morocco and India. Sam arrives somewhere new, absorbs the place and atmosphere, and lets each destination shape how the story gets told.
His approach follows the people and the energy of the day. Most of the time he documents what naturally happens. But his experience directing fashion campaigns means he also knows exactly when to step in and create something more intentional: editorial, iconic portraits that sit as comfortably in a magazine as they do in a wedding album.
Analogue photography sits at the heart of the studio's work. Alongside digital photography and filmmaking, the team shoots 35mm, medium-format film, Super 8, and other analogue formats.
They also work in the darkroom, creating traditional handprints from selected film negatives — something completely individual and made by hand.
