Liz, the cake designer and maker behind CakeBuds, has always been creative, although at the time didn’t know what to do with all her creativity. That landed her in the world of finance. After the kids came along she took on the challenge of making her daughter’s first birthday cake and fell absolutely in love with cake decorating.
Friends and family started asking Liz to make cakes for them, so books, Pinterest, YouTube and other online tutorials came along to teach her cake decorating. They ultimately encouraged her to set up her own business, which is exactly what she did in 2018.
Originally focusing on celebration cakes and then expanding into the wedding industry Liz soon realised that more and more couples were breaking boundaries when it came to wedding planning, and cake was no exception.
CakeBuds specialise in creating contemporary wedding cakes across Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, London and The Cotswolds. Whether the cakes are minimalist, highly detailed, bold or modest, they all have a creative flair to them which makes them stand out. Using only the finest and freshest ingredients, CakeBuds understand how important appearance and flavour are to clients, creating ultimately stunning works of art, that are delicious too.
“When I was younger I couldn’t say my name properly and used to call myself ‘Elizabud’. Since then my family always called me by the nickname ‘Bud’ – hence the name CakeBuds.”
