A Greek Wedding Where Style and Nature Met in Quiet Harmony

Featured Members

On the island of Sifnos, Greece, the couple chose a modern take on a destination wedding. Guided by planner Phaedra Liakou, the design focused on purity of form and subtle refinement, letting the natural setting do the work. Florals and decor followed a minimalist palette, the mood was relaxed, and the day unfolded with an ease that felt refreshing and current. The celebration struck a balance between style and soul in a way that felt genuinely their own.

Location: Sifnos Island, Greece
Style: Timeless elegance with a modern edge
Time of planning: 14 months
Setting: Seaside Restaurant
Season: Fall

Katerina and Nikolas’ story began at work, the place where their paths first crossed. For Katerina, it marked the beginning of a new chapter; she had just moved to Athens for her first job, full of anticipation and possibility. They didn’t start dating right away. It was the early days of COVID, when distance and uncertainty made everything move slower, but even then, Katerina sensed something special and eventually Nikolas did too.

Five years later, that quiet beginning turned into a proposal in Thailand. On a private boat in Krabi, surrounded by turquoise waters and the stillness of a secluded island, Nikolas asked her to marry him. It was intimate, emotional, and completely unforgettable — the perfect beginning to their forever.

Bride's Morning & Fashion

Katerina’s bridal look balanced timeless elegance with a distinctly modern edge. She chose a Vivienne Westwood gown that felt sculptural and sensual, a piece that carried both heritage and attitude. She completed the look with classic Valentino heels, vintage Chanel earrings that added a hint of history, and her signature scent, Coco Eau de Parfum by Chanel, a quiet note of confidence and allure.

Her beauty look radiated effortless sophistication. Fresh, luminous makeup by Deyan Dimov highlighted her natural features, while a sleek wet-look bob with defined curls and her signature bangs by Marya Fotopoulou brought contemporary flair to the silhouette. With a bouquet of white calla lilies in hand, Katerina glowed with the kind of joy that feels rare, the unmistakable happiness of a moment that is exactly and beautifully right.

Groom's Fashion

Nikolas wore a custom Giannetos suit featuring a perfectly tailored beige jacket with classic black trousers. Ferragamo shoes and a bow tie introduced a touch of understated luxury, completing an effortlessly elegant ensemble.

Confident and radiant, Nikolas mirrored the joyful energy of the day — a mix of excitement, anticipation, and pure happiness as he waited for his bride. His style struck the ideal balance between timeless tailoring and contemporary charm, making the look distinctly his own.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place at the Church of Chrisopigi in Sifnos, one of the island’s most iconic and beloved monasteries. Built in the 17th century and set on a rocky islet surrounded by the Aegean, Chrisopigi carries both cultural heritage and quiet spiritual weight. With the sea below and blue horizons in every direction, the setting felt sacred and impossibly serene — a moment suspended between nature, tradition and time.

After the vows, the couple made their exit beneath a flurry of flower petals, a joyful tradition that resulted in some of their favorite photos captured by White on Black Studio and set the tone for the celebration that followed.

Planning Process

Their planner, Phaedra Liakou, guided them through the entire process with care and creative precision. The couple shared, “We truly couldn’t have asked for a better wedding planner. From the very first moment, Phaedra understood our vision and guided us through every detail with care, creativity, and calm. When the weather decided to surprise us on the day, she adapted everything seamlessly — reworking layouts, coordinating vendors, and somehow keeping the atmosphere as magical as ever. What could have been a stressful moment turned into one of our favorite memories, thanks to her incredible professionalism and grace under pressure.”

"Every moment felt effortless and beautifully curated. We're endlessly grateful for all the love, dedication, and heart she put into making our day unforgettable."

Reception Design

This wedding design was a celebration of refined simplicity — timeless in spirit yet distinctly modern in execution. The aesthetic moved between softness and structure, pairing graceful forms with contemporary details to create an atmosphere that felt both effortless and intentional.

Light fabrics framed the space with gentle movement, while tailored draped tablecloths introduced an unexpected layer of texture that elevated the minimal approach. Centerpieces remained quiet and curated: delicate florals paired with warm candlelight for an intimate, almost luminous effect.

The defining moment came from the overhead installation — a sculptural sweep of calla lilies suspended above the dining table, transforming the space into a living artwork and infusing the design with emotion.

From palette to materials to scale, every detail worked in harmony, offering a fresh expression of elegance envisioned for the modern couple.

Reception

The reception took place at a seaside restaurant set across three levels, thoughtfully arranged for a welcome cocktail, an intimate dinner, and a late-night celebration. October gave Sifnos a softer beauty with its golden light, quieter beaches, and a pace that felt unhurried. As the sun slipped into the Aegean, guests sipped cocktails while live saxophone music drifted through the space, creating a mood that was elegant, relaxed, and timeless in the way only autumn by the sea can be.

A pastry chef prepared a mille-feuille live as the wedding cake, turning dessert into a performance. Layer by layer, berries and cream were added until the final touch was left to the newlyweds themselves, a moment that delighted all the guests.

Surrounded by their dearest family and friends, whose warmth and laughter filled every corner, the day became more than a celebration—it became a reflection of who they are and the love they share.

Advice from the couple:

Trust the process, and trust your people.

Planning a wedding from afar can feel overwhelming at times, but working with an experienced wedding planner made all the difference. They truly understood our vision, connected us with the most wonderful vendors, and took care of every little detail so that we could simply enjoy the experience.

So our advice? Choose your team carefully, and then let go. Trust them to do what they do best — and you’ll get to fully live the magic of your day.
