In the early days of September, Ana and Logan gathered their guests at the Domaine de l’Abbaye de Maizières for a wedding that felt both refined and deeply personal. Surrounded by serene gardens and historic architecture, they exchanged vows in a floral-lined park before moving into the glass-walled orangery for an evening of joyful rituals, elegant design, and touches of Moldovan heritage woven into the celebration.

Location: Burgundy, France
Style: Elegant, romantic, timeless
Time of planning: 1 year
Number of guests: 100
Setting: Estate
Season: Falls

Ana and Logan’s relationship began as a deep friendship—two people always in sync, yet unaware of how much more they shared. She, a kind-hearted nurse from Moldova, and he, a driven Swiss entrepreneur in Geneva. Over ten years, their bond quietly evolved until the line between friendship and love simply disappeared. When Logan proposed during a rainy mountain getaway, there were no grand gestures—just sincerity, mist, and a question that changed everything. “She said yes, proving that love, not the sun, makes a moment shine.”

Bridal Morning

Ana got ready on site, surrounded by her closest people and a calm, elegant atmosphere that reflected the overall mood of the day. Her hair and makeup were done by Become You, with soft, luminous skin, natural tones, and loose waves that framed her face gently. The bridal morning felt intimate and focused, with every step of the preparation kept simple and intentional.

Her dress, from The F Dress in Geneva, was a Dando London design that suited the setting and the bride’s personal style perfectly—refined, flowing, and modern in its simplicity. She wore minimal accessories, allowing the gown’s movement and shape to speak for itself. The bouquet by Le Clos Végétal picked up the soft pastel palette of the wedding: romantic but unfussy, in a slightly structured fine art shape that elevated her entire look.

First Look

Ana and Logan chose to share a first look in the quiet courtyard of the estate—a private, sunlit moment just for the two of them. Logan calmly waited as Ana approached with a bouquet in hand and her gown catching the light with every step. When he turned to see her, his expression softened instantly. There were honest smiles, a long embrace, and a few quiet words exchanged. It was simple and intimate moment before the rhythm of the day began.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place in the estate’s park, surrounded by tall trees and soft September light. Drawing from the location’s charm, I designed an aesthetic inspired by a romantic garden,” shared the planner Un Jardin de Lumières. The setting felt calm and spacious, with rows of white chairs placed on the grass and floral arrangements designed to echo the natural beauty of the grounds.

The florist created a pastel-toned design that brought softness without excess—blush, peach, white, and mauve flowers arranged in clusters along the aisle and around the altar space. The compositions had a light, vertical movement, almost drawing the eye upward to the canopy of leaves above.

"I chose to embrace the natural garden feel to its fullest, with a floral arch that looked as if the blooms were growing organically from the garden where the ceremony unfolded."

The ceremony was led by a close friend of the couple, making it feel personal from the start. Ana and Logan included two symbolic rituals: first, their rings were passed through the guests so each person could give a silent blessing—a gesture that brought everyone into the heart of the moment. Then came the wine box ritual, where the couple sealed a bottle of wine in a wooden case to be opened in the future, on a meaningful anniversary. These touches added rhythm to the ceremony, allowing it to unfold in a way that was both emotional and true to them.

Private Moment

After the ceremony, Ana and Logan slipped away into the château for a quiet moment together—just the two of them, away from the music and celebration. Inside, the historic interiors offered a striking contrast to the softness of the garden: white walls, wrought-iron railings, a grand staircase, and a piano where Logan sat while Ana leaned in close, still in her wedding gown and veil. Léa Evrevin captured these scenes with intimacy and precision, balancing light and shadow, movement and stillness.

"From the welcome dinner to the farewell brunch, every moment was steeped in emotion, surrounded by the people they love most."

Reception

The reception took place inside the orangery – a modern space framed by black steel beams, crystal chandeliers, and floor-to-ceiling windows that opened onto the gardens. To soften its industrial lines and bring in a sense of warmth, the planner proposed layering greenery throughout the space—on pillars, around the tables, and around the central dance floor. Round tables were set with white linens, delicate glassware, and pastel florals by Le Clos Végétal, styled low to preserve openness and intimacy.

The grand entrance set the tone: as Ana and Logan walked in, their guests stood and cheered, waving linen napkins high above their heads in a joyful tradition borrowed from southern celebrations. Then came a deeply meaningful moment. A Moldovan folk band took the floor and began to play, while members of Ana’s family quietly stepped out to change into traditional clothing. When they returned, they led a full hour of dances, music, and symbolic gestures—including the ceremonial sharing of colac, the braided bread that represents unity and prosperity in Moldovan culture.

Behind the scenes, Un Jardin de Lumières ensured that every part of the celebration moved with ease. The transitions between ceremony, cocktail, dinner, and party felt seamless, but intentional—never rushed, always natural. The layout, timing, and atmosphere were carefully balanced to allow for both emotion and celebration. From the elegant floral compositions to the way the orangery was transformed, every detail reflected thoughtful planning and sensitivity to the couple’s vision.

As the night unfolded, the dance floor filled quickly. Ana changed into a shorter white dress with the same puff sleeves, and guests stayed on their feet for hours—cheering, singing, and dancing to live saxophone and DJ sets by Florent Feltz. A highlight of the evening was dessert: a playful nod to the region with chocolate confections shaped like escargots, served amid dry ice and sparklers. The celebration stretched late into the night, full of energy and emotion, with guests still laughing and dancing long after the formalities ended.

“The entire weekend felt like a dream!"

Advice from the couple:

Once the planning is done and the day begins, trust your team and let go. Embrace every second, big or small. Let the little things slide, and stay present. We were incredibly lucky to have worked with a team that made us feel supported, free, and able to fully live out the magic of our wedding.
