A Cabo Wedding Beneath Cotton Candy Skies

Featured Members

A colorful wedding weekend in Cabo unfolded with vibrant native florals, a barefoot ceremony under cotton candy skies, tequila ice shots, sunset cocktails, and a beachside party that lasted into the night. Del Cabo Weddings brought it all together with seamless coordination, thoughtful design, and an atmosphere that felt relaxed, personal, and unforgettable.

Location: Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico
Style: Boho, romantic, colorful
Time of planning: 16 months
Number of guests: 130
Setting: Ceremony – seaside, reception – hotel
Season: Spring

Kelly and Matt’s story began when Kelly first heard about a kind, family-oriented sophomore from a nearby high school who also happened to be an impressive golfer. More than a decade later, fate brought them together in San Francisco, where a chance encounter at Kelly’s favorite bar led to their first date months later. They spent two years navigating a long-distance relationship before Kelly moved to Austin, Matt proposed during a quiet morning walk on the beach in Cabo—just as Kelly’s parents secretly captured the moment from above.

Pool Party

The weekend began with a relaxed and sunlit pool party at Hilton Los Cabos, where guests were greeted with custom jute tote bags filled with Kelly and Matt’s personal favorites: “Gifts for our guests included a mix of our everyday staples as well as custom Los Seramins Beach Club trucker hats and our very own wedding newspaper,” Kelly shared. Each bag was decorated with colorful tassels and heart charms, displayed beside a surfboard-shaped welcome sign that read, “We’re so glad you’re here.”

Branded coconuts marked with the couple’s initials were served on ice with dried citrus and bamboo straws, adding a tropical touch to the Baja setting. “I wanted each setting to be cohesive, but also unique so that guests experienced something new at each event,” the planner explained—and the pool party did just that. With a laid-back dress code, stunning ocean views, and a mix of fun and thoughtful details, it was the perfect opening to a weekend that felt as personal as it was festive.

Rehearsal Dinner

The welcome dinner took place in a lush garden setting surrounded by palms and glowing string lights, where Del Cabo Weddings designed a space that felt intimate yet effortlessly polished. Long wooden tables were dressed with black plates, white linens, and modern glass lanterns, while centerpieces of white orchids and fresh greenery added texture and elegance. As the sun set, candlelight reflected off the glassware, creating a warm, relaxed ambiance that set the tone for the weekend.

Kelly looked stunning in a sheer, strapless dress embroidered with bold red, orange, and purple florals, while Matt paired a wine-colored shirt with crisp white trousers. Guests arrived in all-white outfits, getting a sense of cohesion and sophistication to the evening. A live mariachi band brought energy and charm to the poolside gathering, giving everyone a taste of local tradition. The mix of refined styling and playful touches made the welcome dinner an unforgettable start to the celebrations.

Bridal Style

Kelly’s morning began in a serene suite at the hotel, surrounded by her mom and bridesmaids, all dressed in soft sage green. Her bridal details were laid out with care—crystal-trimmed Amina Muaddi heels, By Rosie Jane perfume, a passport-style invitation suite, and her delicate wedding bands. The room buzzed with quiet excitement as her mother and maid of honor helped her into the dress: a strapless mermaid silhouette by Eisen Stein via Mira Couture, featuring sculpted floral lace and a structured bodice that framed her figure beautifully.

Loose waves framed her face, while soft, natural makeup by Blanc Bridal Salon gave her a sun-kissed glow. She accessorized with three tennis bracelets—one her own, one from her mom, and one from her sister—each carrying meaning and connection. When she finally stepped out to meet her bridesmaids, their reactions said it all: wide-eyed, emotional, and speechless. With her bright bouquet of pink and coral blooms in hand, Kelly looked radiant and completely ready to say “I do.”

Groom's Morning

Matt got ready on a sunlit balcony with his father helping him into a tan suit from The Black Tux. He paired it with a white shirt and no tie for a clean, relaxed look that fit perfectly with the beachfront setting. A soft orchid boutonniere added a subtle pop of color, and a custom timepiece from Bespoke Watch Projects, gifted by his brother, brought a personal touch. Surrounded by groomsmen in matching suits and brown loafers, Matt looked sharp and confident—“ready to marry my wife.”

First Look

Kelly and Matt’s first look took place in a quiet hall framed by white arches and soft light, offering a peaceful moment before the ceremony. As Kelly approached in her floral-lace dress, Matt stood with his hands clasped, visibly emotional. When he turned around, their faces lit up instantly with joy and relief. It was an intimate, grounding moment for the couple—just the two of them, taking it all in before the day unfolded. The joy on their faces as they walked together said everything.

"It was only natural, then, that the couple would return to Cabo two years after their engagement to have the most romantic and elegant destination wedding."

Ceremony

The ceremony took place directly on the beach, framed by waves, desert plants, and a sculptural floral altar that felt like an oasis in the desert. The planner designed the space to feel natural yet elevated, with clean white chairs lining a smooth aisle runner that led to a circular nest of cacti and blooms. The floral design by Aria Vera Floral featured bold local colors—fuchsia, orange, coral—balanced with soft sage greenery and dried accents that added texture without overpowering the view.

Kelly walked down the aisle, holding a vibrant bouquet that echoed the palette of the altar. Her strapless lace dress moved softly in the breeze as she made her way toward Matt, who waited surrounded by soft sunlight and close family. The couple stood on a raised white platform encircled by florals, with no structure above them—just sky and ocean. It felt modern, open, and intentional, a design choice that gave full focus to their vows and the emotion of the moment.

The ceremony itself was short, heartfelt, and filled with quiet joy. Friends and family surrounded them in a semicircle that kept the mood intimate despite the open setting. As petals flew through the air and the two walked back down the aisle, hand in hand and smiling wide, the atmosphere was celebratory but calm—exactly as they had hoped.

"We felt overjoyed — the setting, our vows, and our people made it absolutely perfect."

Private Moment

After the ceremony, Kelly and Matt took a few quiet minutes alone on the beach, walking barefoot along the shoreline as the sky turned soft shades of pink. The scene felt untouched and real—just the two of them, wrapped in the quiet joy of what had just happened. MCW Photo & Cinema captured it with warmth and subtlety, never interrupting, just observing the small glances, the way they held hands, the look on Kelly’s face as she smiled up at Matt.

“We couldn’t believe that our months of planning had finally come to life, and how lucky we were that we got to experience it with all of our favorite people in a place that felt like heaven.”

Decor & Setting

The reception took place right on the sand, where Del Cabo Weddings transformed the open beach into a vibrant dinner setting filled with color and texture. A canopy of oversized raffia lanterns dripped with bougainvillea in hot pink and orange, framing the dance floor at the center. Round and long tables were set with woven chargers, terracotta vases, gold flatware, and layered arrangements of ranunculus, dahlias, and roses in sunset hues. The setup balanced earthy and elevated, with candlelight flickering against rattan, linen, and ceramic details—every element chosen to feel natural but warm and festive as the sun went down.

“We wanted to highlight the natural tones and beauty of the beach, while bringing in layers of color, texture and thoughtful lighting.”

Reception

Dinner began with golden hour casting a soft glow across the tables as guests settled in for heartfelt toasts and a relaxed beachfront meal. Kelly and Matt sat at the head table laughing, surrounded by their closest friends, taking in the atmosphere they had dreamed up over months of planning. As the sun dipped into the horizon, they shared their first dance barefoot under the canopy of woven lanterns, swaying to “Next to Me” by RÜFÜS DU SOL while their guests watched in stillness.

As night fell, the vibe shifted. Kelly changed into a playful white mini dress with crystal straps from Self-Portrait and danced through a haze of spinning disco balls and flashing lights.

The celebration went well past midnight, fueled by custom “Whatawedding” honey butter chicken biscuits—a nod to the bride’s favorite late-night staple in Austin. A live saxophonist joined the crowd on the dance floor, amping up the energy. Later, their best friend Ryan McClure took over the DJ booth, surprising everyone with a multi-hour set that turned the party electric. “Everyone was blown away by the energy he brought,” Kelly said.
