The Location
Once a simple peasant farm, Villa Le Fontanelle was transformed into a Medici property in the 15th century. Cosimo de’ Medici gifted the villa to Marsilio Ficino, who not only translated Platonic texts but also founded the Florentine Neoplatonic Academy here. Today, remnants of this rich history remain, including the striking siren statue in the marble pool of the Italian garden.
