A Funky Spring Wedding in Tennessee

It was a perfect spring day in Brentwood, Tennessee when Sophia and Mason turned their vision of a vibrant and heartfelt wedding into reality. Their unique vision combined disco-inspired elements with timeless romance, resulting in a celebration that perfectly reflected their personalities and values. From the circular ceremony seating to the vibrant florals and metallic fringe, every detail was thoughtfully curated to make the day unforgettable.

Location: Brentwood, Tennessee, USA
Style: Funky, colorful, disco
Time of planning: 7 months
Number of guests: 160
Setting: Mansion
Season: Spring

Sophia and Mason’s story began in their local church in Tennessee, USA, where they grew up together. What started as a childhood friendship turned into romance during high school when Mason asked Sophia out in her senior year.

Over the years, their relationship grew even stronger, leading to a beautiful proposal at the park, where they first kissed. Mason surprised Sophia with a picnic and secretly invited their closest friends and family to celebrate — a moment she’ll cherish forever. This journey of love and friendship brought them to their stunning spring wedding at Ravenswood Mansion.

Bridal Morning

Sophia, who works in the wedding industry, approached her big day with a clear vision: she wanted vibrant colors, plenty of disco-inspired touches, and a playful yet classic vibe. She wore an airy A-line gown by Sarah Seven with a unique square neckline and detachable pleated tulle sleeves from Rue de Seine. “I really wanted some big funky sleeves, and they were amazing,” shared the bride.

Her look was timeless yet playful, paired with gray patent leather heels in a Mary Jane style and sparkly earrings. A braided low-up-do and a spritz of Prada perfume completed the ensemble.

Sophia also designed a bold, colorful bouquet featuring an eclectic mix of vibrant blooms that perfectly captured her lively personality and the joyful spirit of the day.

Groom's Fashion

Mason complemented Sophia in his olive-green suit from Indochino. The personal touch of their wedding date embroidered inside the jacket added a layer of sentimentality. His look was polished yet relaxed with brown leather shoes and a beige tie. “We went with pocket square boutonnieres, which were super fun and cute,” added the bride. A spritz of Jimmy Choo Man cologne and his ever-present warm smile completed his attire, setting the tone for the day’s celebrations.

First Look

The couple’s first look was one of the most heartfelt moments of the day. Surrounded by the lush greenery of Ravenswood Mansion, Sophia and Mason shared private vows, savoring the quiet intimacy before the whirlwind of celebrations began. The love, excitement, and pure joy filled the air, making this moment unforgettable.

The photographer Sarah Burnette worked her magic, capturing every tender glance and tear without interrupting. Her ability to blend into the background allowed Sophia and Mason to stay completely immersed in each other, resulting in photos that perfectly preserved the raw beauty of their connection.

Ceremony

Set on the spacious lawn of the mansion, the ceremony took place against a stunning backdrop of Tennessee’s rolling hills. Bright, colorful florals encircled the couple, with clusters of wildflowers and greenery thoughtfully arranged to blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings.

Guests were seated in a unique circular formation, giving the ceremony an intimate and inclusive vibe. “It felt like everyone was truly a part of the moment,” shared Sophia.

"I'm a freelance florist, and so the flowers were a super fun part of this to plan, they were so colorful and funky which was just what we wanted!"

The couple added an individual touch to the ceremony with a time of worship featuring two heartfelt songs. “That was really sweet and special,” the bride recalled. They exchanged traditional vows under the open sky, having shared their personal ones privately during their first look. The ceremony concluded with a moment of communion, symbolizing their shared faith and adding a beautiful sense of depth and meaning to the day.

Cocktail hour

Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a lively cocktail hour on the mansion grounds. It was a perfect spring day, with clear skies and a gentle breeze setting the tone for a relaxed celebration. Guests mingled, strolled through the beautiful surroundings, and admired the vibrant floral arrangements while sipping cocktails. Everyone seemed excited, chatting and laughing as they soaked up the sunshine and the joy of the moment.

Private Moment

Before the reception, Sophia and Mason took a private moment to wander the grounds together, hand-in-hand. The quiet time allowed them to savor their newlywed glow and just breathe amidst all the excitement. Their photographer, Sarah Burnette, used this time to create a stunning gallery of images.

Every moment was perfectly captured, from vibrant color shots to dramatic black-and-white frames and dreamy film photographs. During the golden hour, Sarah made the most of the warm, soft light to shoot breathtaking portraits in multiple locations, which they’ll treasure forever.

Reception & Decor

The reception was a vibrant celebration under a beautifully decorated tent from Grand Central Party Rentals. Disco balls, floral installations, and DIY chandeliers sparkled above the dance floor, creating a fun and lively vibe. Mason’s talent as a graphic designer truly stood out. He made a custom wedding logo based on their last name, which appeared everywhere, from the stationery to the dinner napkins, tying all the details together.

Guests dined at tables accented with eclectic florals by Rosemary & Finch Floral Design, simple pastel candles, and fresh citrus, creating a bright, festive vibe. “I work in the wedding industry and knew I wanted a lot of color! And disco balls! That’s what I started with, and my vision totally came to life, which was really cool to see,” shared Sophia.

The evening was filled with heartfelt moments, from touching toasts by Sophia’s sisters and Mason’s groomsmen to the couple’s first dance to “Steady Love” by Ben Rector, which brought cheers from the crowd. The couple also shared a playful cake-cutting, which ended with both of them wearing a little frosting. “It was actually a super cute moment,” shared the bride.

Sophia and Mason infused their day with a plenty of personal details, from a national park-themed guestbook to a spontaneous photo dash where they visited every table. As the night continued, the couple shared a private last dance under the tent, stealing a quiet moment together before saying goodbye to their unforgettable celebration. Thanks to Sarah Burnette, every laugh, tear, and meaningful glance was beautifully captured, preserving the day’s magic for years.

Advice from the couple:

Honestly, take more time talking to guests. We were told to take time for ourselves, which I liked, but there were so many people. I didn’t get the chance to hug or thank them for being there, and that was really sad for me! I wish we would’ve walked around the tables during dinner. You’ll never have all those people in one room again, so make it count!
