An Amalfi Coast Wedding with an Unforgettable Sunset Sail

Featured Members:

Jodi and Brian’s wedding was a dream come true, unfolding on the beautiful Amalfi Coast with its iconic views and old-world Italian charm. The day was filled with thoughtful touches, from an intimate, family-led ceremony to a sunset sail that brought everyone together in a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This wedding wasn’t just a union but a celebration of love, where every detail and moment spoke of romance, connection, and the joy of bringing loved ones together in such a remarkable place.

Location: Amalfi Coast, Italy
Style: Classic and refined
Time of planning: 2 years
Number of guests: 25
Setting: 13th century monastery
Season: Summer

Brian and Jodi’s love story began when neither was looking for serious relationships. Both had recently gone through tough divorces and enjoyed lighthearted connections through dating apps. Their conversations started casually, but when Brian told they lived five hours apart, Jodi was ready to call it off. Brian, however, had other plans. He persisted, and soon, their nightly phone calls lasted into the early hours, deepening their connection. When they finally met in person for a weekend visit, what was meant to be casual quickly turned into something much more meaningful.

After two years of long-distance dating and blending their children, Brian proposed in the most romantic setting—a sailboat in Rhode Island during a vacation they had planned together, marking the beginning of their next chapter.

The Inspiration

Jodi and Brian envisioned their wedding as a vibrant, joyful celebration of love set against the breathtaking architecture of the Amalfi Coast. The venue’s beauty was central to their design aesthetic and the very reason they chose this iconic location. They wanted to give friends and family an unforgettable excuse to embark on the trip of a lifetime and to create a cherished memory for their kids—a lasting moment when they officially became a family. The intimate celebration was captured beautifully by videographer Leonid Smith, whose film perfectly reflected the couple’s love and the genuine connections between them and their children. His work brought to life the stunning views of the Amalfi Coast, the vivid colors, and the heartfelt emotions that made this day unforgettable.

Her wedding look was a vision of modern elegance. She wore an off-the-shoulder Eva Lendel gown that draped beautifully, its sleek silhouette perfectly suited to the timeless feel of the day. Paired with delicate Pnina Tornai heels and a bouquet by Winsome Floral in muted tones, her look was sophisticated yet understated, letting her natural beauty shine. Each element was thoughtfully chosen, creating an effortless yet refined ensemble that felt true to her style and the serene mood of the morning.

Brian looked stylish in a classic tuxedo from Banana Republic, perfectly tailored to bring out a timeless elegance. He wore it with Gucci shoes, adding a touch of luxury to his look. A classic Tom Ford cummerbund and bowtie completed the ensemble. To tie it all together, he wore a boutonniere that matched the muted tones of the bride’s bouquet, a small yet meaningful detail that added a subtle connection to her look.

Ceremony

The bride, an international wedding photographer constantly surrounded by beautiful celebrations, was instantly captivated when she first saw the venue in Amalfi. She knew right then and there that it was the perfect place for their ceremony. The ceremony was made even more meaningful as Jodi’s father officiated, adding a deeply personal touch to an already breathtaking moment.

Leonid Smith captured every heartfelt moment of the ceremony, including the ones that brought tears to every guest’s eyes. From the bride’s walk down the aisle to the emotional vows, he beautifully documented the genuine emotions and intimate connections that filled the day, preserving those unforgettable moments forever.

"I’ve never met anybody like you. The way that you think, how you celebrate others, and how you make everybody feel special. You make everybody feel heard and loved, and you just let me be me. You always believe in me and encourage me to be better."

Sunset Sail

One of the most unforgettable experiences of the day was a sunset sail from Amalfi to Positano that Brian and Jodi arranged for all their guests. They wanted their wedding to feel like a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, something truly extraordinary. As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with shades of pink and gold, guests enjoyed breathtaking views and a sense of magic that made the celebration feel like a dream come true.

Reception Decor & Celebration

For the reception, the newlyweds were focused on one thing above all: the stunning view of Positano from Rada Restaurant. Jodi imagined a design that felt authentic to the rustic charm and timeworn beauty of the ancient monastery. To capture that ambiance, they chose moody, slightly wild florals that gave the space the enchanting feel of a forgotten, secret garden—perfectly blending with the weathered stone and faded elegance of the setting.

The reception was magical. Under the starlit sky of the Amalfi Coast, guests shared heartfelt toasts, savored a five-star meal, and danced the night away against breathtaking views. The atmosphere was brimming with warmth, love, and joy, making every moment unforgettable. Jodi and Brian couldn’t have felt happier, surrounded by the beauty of the coast and the love of their closest friends and family.

Advice from the couple:

Everything you want to do on the Amalfi Coast takes four times longer than expected. Travel is extremely difficult, and moving guests from one place to another takes way more planning. And  it’s so humid in the summer.
