Nora and Sergio met in college in Mexico City through common friends. Back then she was only 17 and he was 18. Sergio was preparing to be a lawyer and Nora was studying architecture. Three years later they started dating and their love story began. “We just want to be as happy as possible and have a beautiful family together. Be very successful in life and be thankful for everything that we have. Always in the way of god.” said Nora.
Regina Malo has captured a clear narrative of the day with well-composed shots that balance spontaneity and structure. A proficient use of natural light adds warmth and depth to the images, and the candid moments are seized with a sharp eye for genuine emotion. The framing is thoughtful, often using the environment to enhance the romantic and celebratory feel of the wedding.
Their celebration was a three-day wedding. It started on Friday with a civil ceremony and took place at the bride’s house in San Miguel de Allende. The house was designed by Nora and her mom because they are both architects, and since the beginning of this journey with Sergio, they wanted it to start there.
“We had a great welcome party on Friday with all of our family and closest friends. We had a large charcuterie table, canapés, some drinks, and a saxophonist who set the scene. I wore a blue dress that was my “something blue,“ shared Nora.
Nora’s wedding gown was a like fairytale dress. It features an off-the-shoulder design with delicate long sleeves, which elegantly made with finely crafted lace appliqués that cascade down the arms and a luxurious train that trails gracefully behind her. Adding a touch of color, the bride’s emerald Jimmy Choo shoes shine with sophistication and a hint of playfulness. Her hair is styled in a refined updo, and she holds a bouquet of lush white roses, which adds a traditional and elegant touch to her ensemble.
The groom chose a black tuxedo with sharp lapels that create a formal silhouette. He pairs this with a white shirt with black buttons and a nontraditional white bow tie. His look is completed with a white flower that peeks out of his jacket pocket, adding a refined touch to his look.
In their first look, Nora’s eager run to Sergio is met with his emotionally charged, joyous expression, marking a truly heartfelt moment. They spend some time walking around the hacienda grounds, setting a beautiful tone for their special day.
“Our wedding stared with a beautiful ceremony in the chapel that Herencia de Allende has. After it we did a little “callejoneada” – wedding parade from the chapel to the reception, we had Mojigangas – they are like gigantic puppetry very typical in San Miguel de Allende, a donkey with our names on it and Cantaritos – earthenware clay jug for a tequila shots, that were given to all of our guests.” shared the bride.
The couple took a drive in a vintage Mustang to enjoy some alone time before the festivities began, with the ‘Just Married’ sign and cans adding a fun touch to the moment.
“I really enjoyed our big entrance to the party, we were really excited and happy, also a special moment for me was my vals with my father and mom, it was very special for us and since I’m the only child everyone was crying to see us dancing and having so much fun.” said Nora.
“We had a roulette called “La ruleta de la muerte” it was part of Calavera Mexology and it’s like a game that has different “punishments” like take a double shot, play toques, bite a chili, eat a scorpio and so on. The guests played it and it was so much fun.” shared the bride. “My dream wedding came true.” she concludes.
Advice from the couple:
• Don’t drink too much on your wedding day and enjoy every moment of it cuz you will never live it again.
• For the brides: don’t get stressed if something didn’t work out the way you wanted. Unexpected things will always happen just try to relax and enjoy cuz that party was made for you and your husband.
